Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

My friend gave me some cucumber water. 1 sip and down the drain. I don’t care for lemon water either but it’s better then cucumber. Ick & yuck!

If I don’t like the ingredients like the soda or mint I don’t understand how I’ll enjoy that drink. I have tasted many of the foods I claim not to like, granted, not all.
What about that nice wine I alerted you to?

But @jakeduck1 - as much as you may demean the cucumbers, soda and mint... it has VODKA in it!! It's like a healthy salad with a little kick to it. Yumm. I have heard that our taste buds change every 7 years. I think you may be due for a change... if so, this is your ticket!

We are still going to beat on your head Leonard...it’s fun. Let us know if you have actually tried some of the food and drink before you give your opinion and what you didn’t like about it. I’ve never tried @lioness sauerkraut water but I would if someone asked me to. I have a preconception of what it would taste like but I wouldn’t criticize until I tasted it.
My 20 year old grandson has a limited palate because there are so many things he doesn’t like to eat. He says it hard to even try to taste it just by looking at it but he will do so and has surprised himself sometimes. He won’t go out of his way though. Yet he’s my big sushi eater who doesn’t like mashed potatoes...or potatoes in general. I never heard a yuck or ick out of him.

Did you ever take magnesium for leg cramps? If you have cramps at night, magnesium glycinate relaxes your entire body. I starting taking two 400 milligrams last week about an hour before bedtime. Don’t know if it will interfere with any medications you are taking .
I think you should call Leonard an odd duck instead of a strange bird. Therein lies his charm.

@imallears I do take magnesium in my Fibro Malic which I take for fibromyalgia and its about 600mg a day. I really don't have to many leg cramps as I do make sure I have enough potassium and drink plenty of water . I still like strange bird but odd duck will do as well haha I,ve have fibro since the 90,s but as I'm older now it is getting worse. I'm going to my rheumatologist soon to talk to her . Love your recipes
Wow... this particular sub-subject jumps all ove the place. Nice, interesting. Now I’d like to pose a basic question to all who care to chime in: What percentage/how much food do you cook from scratch on average? (I don’t care if you use frozen vegetables, or pre-cut onions, just a general idea?)
I pretty much do close to 90%. I think. Sometimes purchased tortillas, always store bought pasta and pizza crust and pie crust, but otherwise, pretty much from scratch. Baked potatoes, make home style oven fries, make scalloped potatoes, e.g..... And vegetables from garden - sometimes - , and produce stands, mostly. Of course not bananas or pineapple or oranges, but most other stuff.
