Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

My daughter signed up for and received meat and chicken from ButcherBlock.com. If you sign up in September you get 1 lb free ground beef for LIFE. She said the sirloin steak and chop meant were excellent. All grass fed food...they tell you when it will be delivered. Not sure if she had the chicken yet. Can cancel anytime and get automatic delivery if you want and pause your delivery if you are going away without using the free beef for life. Don’t know how long that promotion lasts but she is a foodie and loved the taste of the steaks and beef so far.
Worth a look to see the different meal plans and cost.

@jakedduck1 I keep wondering what your mom eats! Not cereal, I hope. For your recipe, you can crunch up the croutons to make fine bread crumbs, still in the Cajun seasoning and you’re almost ready to go! Dip each chop in the crumbs and brown on each side, then put in a 350. oven til done! Easy

My mom had lasagna, garlic bread & Brussels sprouts for lunch. I have meat and a bunch of other junk in the freezer but if I fix any of that if have to turn on the stove or oven and that's not likely to happen any time soon. Maybe my friend will show up soon, she likes to cook and doesn’t allow me in the kitchen. Of course I’d never argue with a lady.

Hi
It's the humidity which crept back up again. We had about a week of 90
Degrees with lower humidity which was delightful.
Its still 90 for a high here. Possibly another week or so until it becomes more fall like. Unusually long spell with little rain.
Its exhausting
I'm out early to beat the heat..Evenings are nice thougb.
Aiy yi yi Floriiida!
Mary who just had a cucumber cooler,
cooler, arugula salad with Baritta cheese and stone fired pizza with sausage, meat balls, ricotta and peppers.
Anthony's pizza..so good
Cucumber cooler is. Vodka, cucumbers and mint with sparkling soda.

That cucumber concoction sounds ghastly! Cucumbers not particularly good but eat them in salad, soda ick & mint ickiest
90 is ok here, at least it’s not over 100. Of course our humidity is very low. When I went to New Orleans the humidity must have been a million %. never again. We had a day of mist this summer which seldom happens.

Ok I was answering this in the car (as a passenger). It’s burrata cheese which you can buy in our Publix . I haven’t but I would only get it at an Italian Deli if I was using it for company. And Italian delis are few and far between here in Florida. They also put shaves of Parmesan on the arugula salad....I don’t know what the dressing is but boy is it good.

Carb overload so I should sleep good tonight. That and 2 magnesium glycinate later and I’m ready for zzzzzzzzzzz. I’m not the greatest sleeper and the magnesium helps for longer periods of sleep and is also very relaxing and helps in reducing your cortisol levels at night.

Regards from FL Mary

You gotta stop criticizing food and drinks that you have never tasted. You would love it...extremely refreshing.
There, you have been admonished.
I think we had more humidity in Long Island during the summer. July and August have the kind of humidity that makes your sunglasses fog up, your eyelashes sweat ,and your house windows are streaming water in the morning because it’s cool on the inside. If you park outside you have to wipe your windows down every day. Even the dogs don’t like to stay out very long.
That’s why there are snow birds....lucky them.
