I’d much prefer dinner served with the appetizer, main course, sides and desert but the problem is more cooking more mess longer clean up and you know my thoughts on those subjects.
Shepherds pie is good of course I’d use pre-made crust.

@jakedduck1 Crust on shepherds pie? Not on my recipe. The meat is mixed with gravy or tomato soup, seasoned, and put in the dish then topped with mashed potatoes and cheese. I customized mine by using ground lamb, green beans, and nutmeg for the bottom. My husband loves it and my son always did too.
I avoid pastry crusts.
