Hi,
Turmeric is great for inflammation..I sprinkle the powdered turmeric over veggies or put it in soup. I have been drinking Japanese Matcha powder as a tea or sometimes I put the powder in applesauce. I settled on a brand I like called UJIDO which is a ceremonial brand. The good matcha powder is not cheap but a little goes a long way.
It’s an acquired taste. I sometimes drink it as a tonic , as a sipping tea I need honey in it. It has 3 times the caffeine as regular green tea so I don’t drink it much after 2. However, it doesn’t make you jittery. There’s a plethora of benefits associated with it due to the fact that’s it’s rich in antioxidants and vitamins. It claims to boost metabolism and burn calories, improve cognition, improves mood and make you more alert and energetic and is great for immunity and heart health.
The powder is necessary...not the tea bags because there is so little of the matcha in it. You use hot , not boiling water which will destroy the ground leaves. I always have it before my 3 weekly gym classes and usually have it about 5 times a week. But do your research on the different brands. Can be found in places like Whole Foods, Sprouts or health food stores.
I do feel more energetic and focused but I have to say that my diet is a very green one...spinach, kale ...full of veggies and fruit...and at age 78 I have no aches or pains (I do exercise)....my skin and hair look good..my weight is low. I have good genes which is a major factor. I’ve also been eating like this for a long time. I have crappy hearing, the beginning of macular degeneration which has not changed in 5 years and osteoporosis which has improved but nothing organically wrong. Both parents had basically healthy long living families and siblings so I was off to a good start.
I love this healthy living topic because of all the people who have such an interest in living life as it is meant to be lived despite any physical limitations or medical conditions. Reading about the experience of others who offer insight into their philosophy and who offer suggestions and recipes makes me want to go out and shout at everyone I know who does not care what they put into their bodies and then moan about things they can actually take some control over....and change. Ooh....here she goes again.
And the people on this forum (other topics too) seem to have such a great sense of humor and basic kindness that comes through.
Fl Mary is making personal pizza tonight on a Naan (mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, avacado) along with a good Cabernet and the ever popular dark chocolate .I’ll be jogging my way over to the oven soon....(it’s not that far)

Now I have gone back to the ginger-turmeric tea but the chai tea I will get . I still do exercise 2 x a week and eating just the fruits and vegies. have a good day
