Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

I have a toaster oven and consider it an essential appliance. It's perfect for baking one potato, warming leftovers, and baking a small casserole. Uses less energy too.
Yes, it is one of my favorite appliances as well, @harriethodgson1. It is just the right thing if you are cooking for just one or two.
@jakeduck1- You really have a wonderful sense of humor Leonard.
@contenandwell- Genes play more of a part than we think! If I told you what my cholesterol level was you would wonder why I wasn't in the hospital. But I have no symptoms and I can't take many statins. Both of my sisters have/had very high scores also.
jake- awww, feeling a bit down? So many suggestions can be overwhelming but think of how many people are trying to help. But it's all up to you to read the directions carefully and go slowly. This is only if you want to. Do you?
@jakedduck1 Me too, Leonard, me too. They say as a woman ages she can either retain her facial looks, or lose weight and have her face not look as good. I chose to lose weight. Health is more important than looks, but my face does look quite old now. Being overweight for many years is something that I wish I could turn back, but it sure effects many things now, even after having lost a lot of it.

@jakedduck1 You are cooking a steak in an air fryer? I know nothing about air fryers but that just sounds wrong. When it's too cold to go out and grill it, I use a grill pan on the stove. It's one of those pans with ridges so it makes the typical lines on your meat and it works great. Mine is a calphalon but there are many brands. I throw some mushrooms and shallots on there first, and then put the steaks on.

@contentandwell I had gained 100 lbs on a the psych Med Geodon. I do regret allowing threats to govern my life at that time. I did not want to not be allowed to see my 1st grandchild. I could have easily lied and said I was taking it and so, so sorry now I did not lie. Those 100 lbs did harm in many ways. Once that dreadful medication was out of my system the weight came off quickly and now I too look much older. I prefer being healthy too. Honesty is not always wise.
@parus- If I gain 4 pounds, I'm petite, I find it hard to breathe. And when I quit smoking I gained about 25 lbs. It's not only damaging health wise but mentally too. I hated myself, felt like a blob. Sometimes when we think that we are saying the right thing it turns out to be the wrong thing, but telling the truth is always right. I'm sorry that you suffered.

“Feeling a bit down?”
Nope, not me
I’m up up up high as a kite. I am very grateful for everyone’s help. Everyone has been very kind and generous with all their advice, not to mention their patience. As far as directions are concerned, not any directions on steak, baked potato and asparagus. I just want to throw a bunch of junk in together and a while later yank out a delicious succulent dinner all ready to scarf down.
