Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@merpreb Sorry! I thought you were serious. I tend to be somewhat literal, just ask my husband. I drive him crazy, never getting what he considers to be a joke!
My daughter had a TIA about 12 years ago so I take them fairly seriously.

@contentandwell- I'm so sorry that your daughter had a TIA. It wasn't what I set out to say but I couldn't remember the word that I wanted to use. I will need to edit more closely. How is she doing now?

@contentandwell Your daughter must have been quite young when she had the TIA?

@merpreb She is fine now. It occurred during lunch from work and she started speaking gibberish and was totally out of it so her friends brought her home. When one of her roommates arrived home whose father was a doctor, she insisted that my daughter go to the hospital. She did and was in overnight for tests, etc. Apparently, a TIA can herald the coming of a real stroke, but she never had a problem again, thankfully.

@hopeful33250 She was young. Apparently, that can happen more with migraine sufferers, plus she was on the pill which they advised against. Her boyfriend came up from VA (she was in DC at the time) and stayed with her in the hospital. I hate it when my kids are sick and so far away, I feel so helpless.

@merpreb I am a really good baker. I love to bake but rarely do now, because if I do I will eat the stuff I make. I was always the person assigned to bring pies, cakes, and cookies to the family gatherings. I am not a good decorator though. My food tastes good most of the time, but it is not fancy looking.

Got my air fryer today and attempted to cook a piece of chicken but I ended up cooking it for an hour. Obviously it was dry as dust. After 20 minutes it still looked raw. Added another 20 minutes and another. Oh well, maybe next time it’ll be better.

@contentandwell- That too--I would eat everything. My meals are simple. I save the gourmet for when we go out.
