Hi @smithjim, welcome to Connect and congratulations on the new liver. I'd like to bring in fellow liver transplant recipients @rosemarya @contentandwell @jodeej @gaylea1 @rrichardparker @parmcat @jerrydrennan @frankw54 to share their experiences post transplant.

Jim, besides dealing with gas issues, how are you doing? We look forward to getting to know more about you.

@smithjim, I am happy to hear of your recent liver transplant. It is great to hear that you are recovering as planned. I am a recipient. And at 10 years post transplant, I don’t remember having the issue with gas that you describe at 6 months out. I think that I did at the beginning as my system began to return to normal function.
Is it possible that you have added something to your diet that could be the culprit?
How much physical activity are you doing - any walking?

In the interest of full disclosure, I still have some minor acities, ive had 3 paras in the last 6 mos, will need 1 more before I have a hernia procedure.
Before my transplant I was doing a para aprox every 10 days with up to 10 liters average,
aprox 23 total.
I’ve also had aprox 5 incidents of severe pain and nausea to the extent that I had to lay on the floor or bed in a fetal position till the pain subsided . In discussion with my team I suggested trapped gas, my doctor suggested temporary blockage
and internal exam if it kept up.
Have not had that issue for the last 1.5 months thankfully. Not interested in being poked or prodded any more!

Good Morning. I received my new liver on April 08 of 2017. And I am starting to experience a whole lot of gas.
