pro biotics

I was having diarrhea , uncontrollable at times. Visited a gastroenterologist- he ordered a colonoscopy and bloodwork; then referred to Colo- rectal specialist. Neither offered a cause. Began taking probiotics daily. Some relief was gained and after trying a third otc probiotic my symptoms are 90% relieved. This was over a 15 month period.

@jackiem95 I know I'm not who you asked. I suffered for a few years with diarrhea after having a nissen wrap along with having my gallbladder removed. I tried several different probiotics and Align is the only one that helped me. I tried the cheaper ones that say compare to Align, but they did not work for me. I look for the specials at Sam's Club and buy the limit. I think each person is different as to which one works for them. Some do well with just eating yogurt with live cultures in it or other natural probiotics. Watching what I eat also helps. It is nice to be able to go somewhere and not have to worry about making it to a restroom.

I use Align too. Only one that has worked for me. I had part of my intestines removed 8/22/16.

After having 6 months of Cdiff off and on in 2018, my GI put me on Florastor. Any probiotic with S. Boulardii in it is what we need in our colon. It's the one probiotic that can survive the acid in our stomach and get right to the color. I take it every single day and it's sure helped me.

@fourof5zs @atschraner I have been having a problem with diarrhea and I think I have nailed it down to be from dairy. I wonder if a probiotic like Align could help me vs lactaid. If I could take something once a day that would surely be preferable to having to remember to take two anytime I have anything with dairy in it. I say dairy, because it seems as if I am having a problem with aged cheese which supposedly has virtually no lactose in it so it does not seem like simple lactose intolerance.

Has anyone tried VSL 3? My doctor suggested it but it is very expensive and I’d like feedback from someone who has actually used it.

I have tried it 3 different times and this may sound weird, but it affects my sleep. I don't know how that could be, but it does. So I go back to Align and it keeps me right.
