Cancerous spot not healing??

Posted by dazlin @dazlin, Jan 25, 2019

While at Mayo being examined for my rashes, a cancerous nickel size spot was removed on my back. It was basil cell, and said to be superficial. Four weeks later, it was nasty looking, with a thick black scab, and red border that spread out. I went to a local dermatologist, and they removed the scab, dr said it looked angry, and I applied ointment and covered it for 14 days. It seemed to heal ok, but its still red, and it hurts radiating out, and itches a bit. Four months later, it's still bugging me. I went back to local dermatologist, dr said just apply scar ointment. No further biopsy was done. She said she didn't have an answer as to why it hurts all around, but only that the scar tissue can be uncomfortable. Has anyone ever experienced after effects like this, for so long?? Before it was removed, I never even knew it was there.

I had my basal cell removal in August. Still looking bad. I was not happy he did an open removal. I have had over 200 moles removed because of one melanoma. Other dermatologist always stitched and heal quickly. This one looks like a blood blister underneath.

I am now recovering from Moh's surgery several weeks ago on my nose for Basal Cell Cancer. It was a a sore that would not heal. The surgery was quite large and deep, and I will probably have to have a skin graft or plastic surgery of some sort on it as it is VERY disfiguring. I feel totally discouraged and maimed.
This is the 3rd Moh's on my face. I had another on my leg and major surgery for a huge Melanoma on my arm many years ago.
I also have had several sarcomas and other serious cancers. Obviously there is a bad cancer gene in my DNA!
Thanks for your concern.

@mermaid7272 Just wondering if you’ve had any plastic surgery on your nose? How was the whole experience?

My nose is still healing & still covered by Vaseline & bandage. It looks better than it did at first, thankfully, & the surgeon said perhaps sanding it will help the raised area. He put something in to help the swelling. I would rather have a bump there than a depression, it would look a bit more normal. I think that keeping a surgical site covered & moist is the the best way to keep scarring at a minimum.
Has anyone tried those ointments that are supposed to help eliminate scars?

@mermaid7272 I'm so glad the site is looking better! I’m sorry I don’t know about creams that eliminate scars. Have you asked the surgeon or a dermatologist?

Any of you looked at using bloodroot. There used to be a Facebook page with 21,000 members and great info, which FB removed. Now see https://mewe.com/group/5b84a9610b7676241e25c6d8. Lots of knowledgable people there who have used it successfully. I have.
