Has anyone used CBD oil for chronic pain? And do you have results?

Posted by rensacb @rensacb, Jan 22, 2019

I'm a chronic pain suffer of 35+ years. Scoliosis is the culprit. Not a disfiguring curve but non the less painfully destructive. Almost every disc is bulging from 3mm to 6mm. I've had 2 spinal fusion. C 3-7 and L 4-5. Have 4 nerve root impengements with spondylosis in some areas and stenosis at interval from neck to sacral. Take steroid shots when I can with positive results for a few weeks. Always have Norco 5mg/325 ready if needed. Unfortunately I have found the best way to keep pain down is to lie down. So most of my days are spent on my bed. Any suggestions?

I use a product called UltraCell made by a company called Zyliss and I have found a lot of benefit from it. It's pure CBD.

I'm sorry I called wrong name, I see it's Rachel. I'm glad I inspired you. I hope more people learn the difference between medical cannabis CBD & THC are both very helpful in relief from pain. It is not the same as CBD from Hemp. Please do not buy it & waste your money on paint thinner basically. If u do decide to give it a go look it up under Medical Cannabis. It's made my life so much better. Sorry about capital latter's didn't know about that rule/I was not shouting I'm having trouble seeing tiny letters on my cell phn. Hopefully get laptop very soon. Goodnite, Mimi

No worries. When you are feeling up to I'd like to hear your success story of how you transitioned from opiods and pain meds to medical cannabis. Given the fact that it takes experimentation to find the right strength and manufacturer. I'm boggled with fear of having no relief during the transition and understanding how to come off of opiods while still controlling pain. Thank you for any advice you feel like sharing.

Hello I am a medical cannabis patient and I take cbd oil for pain. I get the 2:1 with just a bit of thc so you don't get a headache.

Good morning @sandyg1963 Welcome to Connect. I am so glad you have found a natural alternative to control your pain. Why are you having pain, Sandy? Do you use a tincture? I have been a medical cannabis patient for several years. What has been helpful was including my medical providers so that they become my partners in this somewhat debilitating journey of pain and restricted activities. If you are comfortable, please share your dosage and frequency. Be safe and protected today. Chris

Suffice two say, I have similar conditions you describe and over a period of 3 months this past summer, CBD oil was 100% INEFFECTIVE. Even some of my lesser pains, that I hoped might be helped, had no relief. Expensive lesson but at least I keep narrowing it down. I am scheduled for an RFA later this month. Good luck

@rasputin, Thank you for your feedback. It is important to listen to everyone's attempts at finding relief from chronic pain. May I ask a couple of questions so that I understand the issue. Did you use a regulated medical cannabis tincture or capsule? Was it in a legal dispensary? The reason I am asking is that there seems to be a plethora of CBD products and promises out there in internet land. Street quality or unregulated hemp oil products that do not meet standards and can even do some damage, are definitely doing some dubious marketing.

After fussing around with edibles and other non-effective or inconsistent CBD products, I found that a 1:1 CBD/THC gets my day off to a pretty pain free start. I use a 2:1 CBD/THC for afternoon rests and bedtime. In fact, medical cannabis is my only pain treatment which I share with my medical providers. I always check out the companies who produce the products and even talk with them by phone before I venture further. Here is a link to some beneficial information. Please let me know how I can assist you in controlling your pain. Be free of suffering today. Chris

@rasputin @artscaping - I have been reading the posts on the CBD oral/CBD oil and other THC products and am confused about them. I live in Arizona where medical these products are legally sold for medical use. I am confused about these products having never used them before. I have these questions:
1. Does one need a prescription from a medical Dr say a PCP?
2. What are the differences between the above referenced products? CBD oral, CBD oil, other Cannabis products. I think this was the abbreviation?
3. What is the recommended dosage of each? I think my PCP would have no idea what to prescribe for me or even if she would write a prescription.
4. Are some products better than others and ho does one compare?

These may seem like dumb questions but I have never used any Cannabis products and know nothing about them nor where to even look for info.
Thanks,
@burningfeetrinphoenix

Thanks for your feedback. I purchased 1500mg from an established, reputable brick & mortar store located in one of our local, upscale shopping areas. Thankfully there was no hustle involved (or I would have walked right out) and they were very informative, mostly echoing everything I had read on the internet. After playing around with dosing for about a week, I settle for 25ml AM & PM for almost 90 days. There were periods when I thought I was experiencing some relief but later considered that wishful thinking. I take no other pain meds but will continue to explore my options. I might add that I have not necessarily closed the door on CBD.
Thanks again.

Good morning @burningfeetinphoenix, and @rasputin, First of all, thanks for your response @rasputin and the best line was that you have not necessarily closed the door on medical cannabis. We will get to that issue after our friend @burningfeetrinphoenix is able to get her questions answered at the following website: https://azdhs.gov/licensing/medical-marijuana/index.php#faqs-patients.

This is a thorough and good site for information and all of the hoops you have to jump through in Arizona. Some of the answers may help both of you. While you are doing that, I will be checking my sources for more information on dosage. @rasputin....would you please tell me the two similar conditions that you wish to be knocked out of your pain world.

And @burningfeetinphoenix, there are no dumb questions if you seek an answer and one is available. On the Arizona site, you will also see a section on clinical trials. As this compassionate industry gets more organized and there is a consistent product regulatory protocol, we will have to ferret out the best from known users. I am working on that for you both. I just need some condition information. May you have happiness today and the causes of happiness. I will be checking on you two this afternoon. Right now I am off for a myofascial release (MFR) treatment.....my other must-have in addition to medical cannabis. Chris
