No reason given other than hospital policy. I had no problem after first one and did not need any help. I even explained I had a colonoscopy with removal of polyps and had no problems. After colonoscopy, I was driven home and then friend left. even with being put under, I was still not required to have someone with me. The eye hospital just said it was a new requirement.
