Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@imallears
I'm not ignoring it, I didn’t know about it. However ignoring it probably is a good idea since it’s obviously propaganda balderdash.
My immune system is top notch a number one but thank you for your concern, miss guided and miss placed as it may be sometimes. I know you mean well. Stick with me kid I’ll get you straightened out.Istick with me kid I’ll get you straightened out. If your immune theory were true mine would be non-existent.
@gingerw
It is absolutely totally incomprehensible to me how anyone can not like chocolate, I can understand not being able to have it. So have you always disliked chocolate or did you develop this unfortunate abnormal dislike for it more recently?
@merpreb
If that were true Mary it would be long gone.
I think I’ll go hunt down that immune system thread, i’ll try to use restraint and even though they’re obviously on the wrong path I’ll try my best not to straighten them out.
Have a sweet day kids, I am,
Jake
@jakedduck1 I never have been a chocolate person. My mother had an affinity for Hershey Chocolate bars with almonds, and kept a 12-pack on her sidetable. Heaven forbid if any of the kids touched that! My sister is a chocoholic, but goes for the fancy expensive ones; I tell her because she is a vegetarian it must be because she is missing something in her system LOL.

@becsbuddy Wrangler/cowgirl/ trail guide in WY. Did this in the summers during the 70's to help pay for college education. A wonderful experience leaving wonderful memories. Thank you for asking.
@parus
Have you done any artwork of your cowgirl days? Would love to see it!
My pharmacy ran out of Phenobarbital So it wasn’t included in the packets that I receive in December. I just get the packets rip them open and dump them in my mouth and it’s foolishly I didn’t even check to see if everything was in there. I went to the lab to have my levels checked and my Phenobarbital was low, So now they’re saying I’m not compliant taking my medicine which means I won’t qualify to have my drivers license returned until late August. So it won’t be until sometime in September when I get it if I am approved. Oh well, not being able to drive is a major pain. Thank goodness for Uber and lift and being able to get my groceries delivered really helps.
Jake
@jakedduck1 When we cant drive or like you waiting to see, transportation makes it easy you let the driving to them ,no insurance registration or gas to worry about . Im use to not having a car . You just have to plan your trips better and get all with one or two trips. I like groceries delivered and now meds also . It is an adjustment but at some point we all have to make this
@jakedduck1 I know how much you were looking forward to having your license back. Can you appeal this newest condition at the DMV, providing proof to them that you would have taken the meds if you had them, providing them the list of meds included [and showing what wasn't there]? Didn't the pharmacy ever tell you they had not filled that part of the Rx and then supply you when it came in?
Ginger
@jakedduck I too wonder as @gingerw does, didn't the pharmacy put a notification in your refills that they were lacking one of your drugs? This seems so wrong to me. I know many people have to be weaned off of phenobarbital and so that could have caused them a real problem. The pharmacy should have managed to find that drug somehow, and if they couldn't get it to you with the original shipment it should have been forthcoming immediately after. Frankly, with an error like that, I would change pharmacies.
JK
@jakedduck1 What an awful mistake for your pharmacy to make! So you went 1+ months without phenobarbital? Do all the pills come in 1 package or in separate ones? Can you make a formal, written complaint? But, I’m glad to see that you’re looking on the positive side! Got any candy?!
@becsbuddy
“Got any candy?!“ hahaha, I believe you already know the answer to that question. I may go without food but I’m never without a variety of candy, cookies, pastry a pie or a cake every once in a while. I’m a big believer in eating from those five essential food groups. I’ll probably gain some weight today and splurge on some necessary evils today, being my birthday.
My insurance changed so I’m dealing with a new pharmacy. I haven’t gotten them quite broken in yet. I only went without my Phenobarbital for about 4-5 days but it was enough to screw up my level.
I’m supposed to take 18 pills a day and last month they sent me two packets per day and each package only had one pill, so instead of 18 pills a day they sent me two.
I got 3 cakes and a 4 pound box of Sees’s candy. A huge box of cookies from Europe some nice clothes a curio cabinet and some gift certificates.
I’ve lost 77 pounds so far, only 10 more to go to reach my 140 pound goal. Those last pounds are going to be a challenge to lose with all the goodies. One of my friends made me a caramel chocolate cheesecake which is super rich, just the way I like them. Another lady made me some kind of cream type cake with a strawberry topping. I haven’t tried that yet, I’ll have that for breakfast. My friend who took me to dinner made me a candy bar cake from all different types of candy bars.
If your near Becky I’ll make sure you’ll get more then one cookie. Come one come all, I have plenty of goodies to make everyone happy.
