Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@gingerw I see the pain specialist next week. Also see the therapist this week for a reality check-or some such. I am needing to pick and choose as to what I will/can do in a day. So much I want do. Hard to accept my limitations and the doldrums lurk close by. Maintaining is my word for the day. Decided to drop by and check in with connect. I do think about those here. Obstacle currently presenting is my foot cannot reach the stirrup of the saddle.
I miss dining at the cyber table.
@parus Your place tag [what do they call those little place markers, anyways??] is always nearby, and we so appreciate when you can stop by. Tea, coffee, or assorted libations sit on the sidebar. Take your choice.
A reality check-in sounds like a great idea, something we all need to do from time-to-time. Having pain on a near-to-constant basis impacts our daily life, doesn't it? I can definitely relate to this!
Your foot is going to reach that stirrup. Perhaps a mounting block will assist you.
Please let us know what the pain specialist says...

I am overflowing with Gratitude today!!!!!!!!!
My candy bar just arrived.
No more of that1oz a day propaganda nonsense
I’m going to savor every one of the 11,600 calories
That little tan and brown spec is a 3/8oz Hershey’s
hardly enough for a good taste. It’s been torture but the torture will soon be over.

@jakedduck1 Oh, my goodness, Leonard. I have never seen such a thing. Better you than me. I can't have/don't like chocolate.
Ginger
@jakeduck1
That’s not the only thing that will be overflowing. There is a great new discussion here on Mayo entitled “Sugar Has The Potential To Reduce Your Body’s Defenses.” Are you ignoring it?
Just saying......😏.

@parus- Good morning. I've been off the computer due to a vertigo issue, I think. I'm still waiting for a resolution but the world has pretty much stopped spinning.
I am so happy to hear that the medicines and procedures have stopped your cancer! Would a relief you must feel. On the other hand it must make you want to scream that your second pain procedure has failed.
I'm lost about the foot and saddle thing...anyway if you can please try and keep your chin up. If it feels too heavy we can hold it up for you!
Jake- Your rug loks like little chocolate sprinkles- at a quick glance.
@merpreb It means I am endeavoring to get back in the saddle again and cannot reach the stirrup to get back in the saddle. Old wrangler lingo. Welcome back. I can keep my chin up with some help...true for many. Cyber hug. Your words reminded me of the old song, "Dizzy" by Tommy Roe
@parus- Oh I know what back in the saddle again means- duh, I am so not with it. I agree with Ginger- use a step stool, a watering trough, anything! Thanks a lot and Dizzy by Tommy Roe, lol. Good to be back. Cyber hug back atcha. Are there ther treatments that can be done? Do they know why the 2nd one didn't take?
@parus
Good morning! “old wrangler lingo”. We’re you a wrangler/equestrian ?
