Gratitude Discussion Group

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Nov 24, 2018

Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:

  • Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)

  • Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful

  • Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)

Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.

Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@contentandwell We vacationed there and enjoyed the amusement park as our son was young then . I took him through the factory tour then we got some afterwards. I use to love the chocolate but Leonard when dark chocolate came out it was all over no more milk chocolate for me

@lioness. When my daughter was in college in VA we used to drive there on the route through Harrisburg to avoid the eastern highways. I swear, sometimes we could smell chocolate when we drove through! That was the closest we ever got to Hershey.

Hi,
No thanks, just don=E2=80=99t like milk chocolate. Dessert wines are usual=
ly
sweet and I don=E2=80=99t like sweet wines and people generally drink them =
by
themselves. I=E2=80=99ll stick to my one piece of dark chocolate and my
regular dry glass of wine. BTW I said I wouldn=E2=80=99t retire until I co=
uld
afford good food, wine and the beauty salon...so I waited to stop
working.
It=E2=80=99s time to stock the mini wine fridge again. That chocolate you
ordered should be divided into 1oz pieces ....per
day....really.....hmmmm..

Two questions
1. When did you check out of hotel reality?
2. Are we using code now?
Bottoms up,

That’s very weird (much like your taste buds) how my post came out. I think it’s time for a new iPad since this one is really getting out of whack .
Chalk is a good definition of how milk chocolate tastes and you are right @comtentandwell.
My endorphins are fine thank you.
Yes...one oz per day otherwise you are sabotaging your health. And that ain’t propaganda. Thou shalt not commit gluttony.

Let’s put chocolate to a rest and agree that everyone has their own unique taste buds . How about a cannoli?

@lioness My husband's father was an Italian pastry chef and his cannolis were made with a cream filling, not ricotta. He hated ricotta. Here in the states, it's very difficult to find the regular cream ones. It was pretty easy to find them in Italy. My husband will not eat the ricotta ones, they are not what he grew up with. There is an Italian bakery in the North End in Boston (that's the Italian section) that has the cannolis my husband likes.

Ricotta cheese cannolis are the ones I really like.....grew up on them in New York....love ricotta cheese cake. I love ricotta on pizza. Different brands of ricotta makes a difference....just like mozzarella which I can find in an Italian deli about a half hour from me...their mozerella is salted. But frankly I’d eat any old cannoli. I have to travel to St Petersburg here in Florida for a really good cannoli.
Tiramisu anyone? Okay...I really appreciate all these wonderful desserts
