Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

”Going to have lunch at the beach now and will let @jakeduck1 know what I ate.”
Spare me please, I'm not sure my stomach is up to hearing about it. I always shudder at the thought of hearing what you had to eat.
I have a question, If you’re such a wine aficionado why haven't you accepted some of the specialty wines I offered to send you?
Remember telling me how I’m supposed to be open and try various new foods, doesn’t that apply to you with your wine? If I'm supposed to be courageous enough to try some of the grotesque delicacies you suggest I believe you should be just as courageous in trying new wines?
Enjoy,
Jake
An update from the survivor of the holidays. Had my follow-up with urology and the BCG seems to have fended off the cancer. Back again in 3 months.
Second rhizotomy did not go as well as for lessening the pain. I honestly think it is worse. I browsed some comments and grateful to see things are still moving forward even in my absence-a good thing.
@parus were always thinking of you and wishing you the best!
@parus Danged, so sorry to hear the second procedure did not "take" as hoped for. What now? Any other recourse?

This is going to be a switch, I’m actually grateful for something instead of bellyaching about something.
I am so excited and happy, I found a box of See’s candy in my freezer today, I was absolutely ecstatic.
I thought seriously about eating it today but then I decided to wait to have it after I finish off my 5 pound chocolate bar after I lose all the weight that I set out to lose. I actually wanna lose seven more pounds (142) however my goal is only 4 pounds away (145) now. I’m expecting a friend to come to visit from Washington. I sure hope he’s not here when I hit 142 pounds, I might have to share my candy bar. Maybe I should get the 10 pound bar just in case. That’ll be a total of 82 (145) pounds, 85 (142) pounds.

I used to hang around Temecula when there was just a restaurant there - the Swing Inn. My best friend was a waitress. She and her boyfriend lived on a huge piece of land outside of town with an elderly woman who had been a concert pianist in the 1920s. She was nearly 100 years old. That was 50 years ago!!! Now I hear Temecula is all built up. I would love to see it some day. When I was able to drink wine I used to go up to Napa and Sonoma on the weekends. I was living in San Francisco back then. I'm still in the area. Those poor counties have had their share of disaster with earthquakes and wildfires. But they come back. They are fierce., Even when the wildfires are raging there are beautiful delicious grapes for sale.
@jakedduck1
I’m speechless (almost). Your body will be skinny but sugar shocked. Congrats on the weight loss. The candy bars? Yeah..still speechless.

Congratulations @jakedduck1 I don't know how you lose weight with all of that candy around! You obviously do have some good will-power.

@imallears
Want me to send you one. we could have a contest and see who can finish it off first. I guess that wouldn’t really be a fair contest though. But even so, just think of all the nice dessert wines you could have with it, Provided you could afford that much wine, bet it would cost a heap.
