Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@parus. Hi Parus, I’m so sorry to read about your friend. We are all here to share and help each other. Please feel free!......Karen
@parus I don't know where my reply went but you are a caring , compassionate person ,she will need your strength I know you can do it ,we are all here to talk
I hope all had a happy Easter/Passover, or simply a good spring day. We were busy, and then yesterday I had my annual MRI and spent the rest of the day with a dear friend who lives in MA so I haven't had time to be on here.
@jakedduck1 I think our trips to CA are over now that our son has moved to Denver. He lived in southern CA from 2004 until lastl summer. It was a great place to visit, but as the saying goes, I wouldn't want to live there. Thankfully temps here rarely go into the 90s but when they do I can tolerate it unless it's humid.
@merpreb I am so thankful for A/C in cars. I remember when I was young and we didn't have that, it was awful. Our house is not A/C but it's very well insulated so generally not too bad.
@parus I am so sorry about your friend's losses. She is lucky to have a good friend like you, ready to be there for her.

OK... this may be premature, but Friday I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy that resulted in 6 polyps and 1 stomach ulcer that were biopsied. The best I can see on the patient portal today, all of the results were non-malignant. That is a huge breath of relief. It looks like there is some kind of problem with the ulcer and some constriction between my esophagus and stomach, but it's non-life-threatening - so I am grateful. I'll figure it all out later.
@debbraw Are you seeing the Dr soon? Call him so he can see you on this report
@quiteachiver75 HELLO DEBBRA CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR RESULTS. I HOPE I GET GOOD RESULTS TO. NEXT WEDNESDAY I AM HAVING A COLONOSCOPY AND ENDOSCOPY. TAKE CARE TERESA
@debbraw That's good news, Debbra! I do a lot of work with my physical therapist and have learned lot about MFR work. Constrictions can also happen around organs in fascia. I'd like to suggest that you may want to look at myofascial release with a physical therapist. MFR work can release fascial restrictions and get things back to moving as they should. There is a lot of information on the MFR discussion and you can find a provider listing on the MFR website. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/myofascial-release-therapy-mfr-for-treating-compression-and-pain/
@quiteachiver75 TERESA, I FEEL FOR YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY. I'LL BE WISHING YOU THE BEST. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HAD TO DO BOTH. THE PREP DAY IS THE WORST. HOPE YOURS IS EASY AND UNEVENTFUL!!
@quiteachiver75 HELLO DEBBRA, THANKS FOR YOUR MESSAGE. ☝️ I AGREE THE PREPARATION IS SHOCKING I WILL BE GLAD WHEN ITS OVER
Today I am grateful to be home. We left to go camping for a few days since they were doing work around the condo complex. Things are not finished but at least we were able to get into our garage last night. And missed a lot of noise at dirt. We had no internet service. To those of you who have posted thank you for doing so. Colonoscopy and Endoscopy in 1 day is something I did back in 1997.
