Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@debbraw That's great that you love your new "do". It's always a good feeling to leave the hairdresser feeling great.
I love going to my hairdresser, he's such a great guy and when I was sick he did so many nice things for me. I have even gone to church with him!
When I go I just always trust him to do whatever, he knows me well enough at this point to not do anything too drastic. I think I have an appointment in a couple of weeks.

@gingerw- I never pictured you with long dark hair, but now that I know that's what you have I can't remember what I pictured before! lol. Had my hair trimmed yesterday. I'm thankful that my hairdresser gives great shampoos! It's my favorite! mmmmm
@becbuddy Hoarfrost is a horrible thing!!! I too am thankful that you are seeing the sun. Keep the positive. Snow to the south but we were spared this time around.
Again, grateful for my woman's cave and not being a burden on any family member which is the best I can do.
Had the pulmonary thing checked out. Normal as I thought it would be. A good thing. PT is not and I will not be going back as it has me down with lumbar pain again. I tried yesterday and finally told the gal no more as this is doing more harm than good. Not their fault as they are doing what they are trained to do. Have decided that their is no help for scoliosis.
Grateful I stopped with PT this time. It doesn't mean I have failed.
@parus- Oh parus- how thoroughly disappointing.and frustrating. I have scoliosis too, but so far I'm not sure if my back pain is due to that. I hope that you can get more answers with your new ortho guy!
@merpred Can go no further there because ortho NP cannot refer to ortho doctor without MRI. One more slammed door. Looking for an open window.
@parus Gosh, it seems like there must be another tack the medical community can pursue if you cannot do MRIs How closed-minded of them to not consider alternatives!

@gingerw Thank you for a chuckle. I had the door slammed by professionals with closed minds. Terrific mental image on my screen!!
@gingerw I have a friend who quit having mammograms because she didn't have enough to put between the plates. The pain she went through as they tried again and again to force her body to the plates was too much. My questions are why didn't they use ultrasound or a chest xray or an MRI? It seems there have to be some people in the medical field who think outside the box.
@pearlbaby7 and @gingerw- I'm not flat but I have had to tell several technicians to back it off a bit or I would scream. They did and the films were fine.
