Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@merpreb she, like I was prior to menopause, is very migraine prone. She really suffers with them.

Haha yes I noticed Jake. No I am not considering any such thing. I'm in such a good place right now, why mess with it? I've been depressed almost my entire life. I fought it and fought it. Now I don't want to fight anymore. I need to preserve my energy and I'm sure not going to spend it on messing around with meds. What would be the reason for me doing that? Just to say that I'm not taking pills? I'm proud of where I am right now. I'm not doubting my medical decisions at all.
JK- I use to have them. I certainly know what they feel like. 😟
@merpreb
I was just curious if you got the light because the meds weren’t working. Just a thought.
Jake
@jake- got more than you bargained for? Lol.
It's the light that helped me get off the PTSD depression edge!
@merpreb Glad to here you have something to help most people who have SAD in winter back east have found the light helps glad it has for you
@lioness - I have had SAD all year long! I'll use it all yr long if I need it. Summers are brutal in southern NE now. So I don't go out during those times. Thanks, I'm glad I found it too!
@merpreb Well you should be pleased. 👍
@jakedduck1 If it is not broke why try to fix it. @ merpreb has had improvement with the light therapy and her current medications. Why would she want to muck with things??
@parus
I doubt people would take medication unless something was broken but if a treatment is working, I agree, why change it. I was just curious. I take 2 Rx’s which for me is too many.
Take care,
Jake
