Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

Hey y’all please don’t blame me if you gain a few pounds!! Why I spending more time with Don these days. 😉
Grateful for the motivational skills of others.
@jakedduck1 We adopted our rescue kitty from a shelter in your area. You're part of California has its pluses and minuses just like any other place. At least you are close to some really nice national parks like Kings Canyon, Sequoia and Yosemite! Your town is kind of on the way to different places, not necessarily a destination being along the 99 corridor. Certainly a plus in that respect!

Today I am grateful to be where I am. It is shortly after 5 a.m. on a very rainy and stormy day. Where I moved from last July is now under evacuation orders due to storm damage, mudslides, and debris flow. It was literally just down the street, down the hill from the Thomas Fire that hit December 2017. There are many traffic accidents out on the road and areas shut down due to storm runoff and debris. I think it is a good day to stay inside!

@gingerw I agree Ginger even here we had water up to the downtown shop doors I'm on 4th floor so Hopefully we won't be covered Saw the pileup in San Bernardino terrible ,staying in
@lioness Yep, it has been the bad weather day here today. Watching drizzly rain then it becomes very heavy either straight downpour or at an angle. Very glad I'm not on the road. But my stepson is and he said it is absolutely crazy. He drives a long-haul truck. He's used to the rain being from Portland area, but it's the drivers that make the biggest issue for him trying to get through without accidents. Hope your rain runoff issues don't get worse!

@gingerw I hope he will be safe I know the traveling is bad in rain. A lot of native people are not use to driving in it. Down here it has rained heavy today but Long Beach is o.k. but Seal Beach always gets flooded as they are right on the coast now we have high surf warnings so they aren't out of the woods yet . I think we are protected by where we are sort of in a inlet I would call it closing thing I can think of.
@contentandwell It sounds like you got your mother's kitchen-DNA, but your sister missed it all together! 😊
@gingerw
Your right, close to ocean, mountains and if in a gambling mood Reno and Lake Tahoe aren’t that far off. My winter retreat is Mt Shasta, 300 mi 4-4/12hrs. Both Oregon and Mexico (You couldn’t pay me to go to Mexico) are about 5-6 hrs (The way I drive anyway.)
Where I live is definitely not a destination, at least not to any sane people.
