Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@hopeful33250 Yea we are on his team
@gingerw Back east Tops is well know I use to work at Jenny Craig
@gingerw There used to be TOPS chapter around here but I think they closed. That's "Take Off Pounds Sensibly", isn't it? I have always gone my own way, using myfitnesspal to track what I eat, tracking my weight daily on an excel sheet, and getting to my health club quite a few days a week. I have to admit, right now I am having a very difficult time getting back to the discipline I had when I lost a considerable amount of weight, but every day I vow will be different so hopefully, they will all begin to get that way. I am good about the exercise, but am having a great of difficulty avoiding temptations. When I was doing great and really gung-ho about it all I brought some of my sheets from myfitnesspal to my doctor and told him if he had patients who were looking to lose weight, that I found it to be a huge help. He said he did, but none of them had the determination that I had, which I did at that point.

Today I am grateful for speech therapists! It looks like the one we saw today will be able to help my husband with his cognition issues. 🙂

I'm grateful today I received my referral for P. T. And made my appt ,but so happy I don't have the leg pain Thanks Don
@lioness I have been through the moves with Don this morning as well. Does not help with head neck and shoulder pain which has gotten so much worse. White stuff on the ground this morning. Just enough to be pretty. Again, grateful for shelter and warmth.
@jodeej Good news indeed!
@contentandwell It is hard to regain determination. I have been off track as well. My diet is healthy. I just don’t move enough. There are days I hurt too much to do any quality moving. You are welcome to join some of us to spend time with Don Fiore. My energy level is at the bottom of the vortex and I am grateful for the encouragement, support and ideas I find here at connect.
Today I am grateful that my husband is finally getting some help for his cognition issues from a speech therapist.
I am also grateful for snowblowers!
Blessings on your day,
JoDee
I'm glad to hear that the speech therapist can help with cognition issues, @jodeej. That is great. I'm a big believer in speech therapists. I had vocal cord surgery four years ago and the speech therapist has helped with both voice issues and swallowing issues! I wish your husband well.
How often will he be going for speech therapy? Will you report back on how he is doing? I would also be interested in the types of exercises used for cognition issues.
