dianrib, I empathize. I am 73 and have suffered with anxiety for years. Many years ago I took Xanax to get myself trough the prolonged illness and death of my mother. That drug made me more anxious. Valium worked much better for me. While that too is addicting, I only took it for a very short time. I recently began taking lowest dose of Lexapro for intermittent spells of anxiety and nausea. It seems to help. This is a drug that requires weening to come off. So there’s no easy way it seems. I am going to try adding CBD oil to my regimen as well. When I return to the Mayo Clinic in February for my annual physical, I am requesting hypnotism for anxiety. My thought is that if you’re prone to anxiety, aging doesn’t help! Whatever efficient brain-gut connection I once had seems to have been severed! Hang in there, take advantage of the help available, and hope for a good outcome.
