@gingerw Well I think I should start singing to my horse when I'm riding him because I can't whistle. I usually go out alone and horses don't want to leave their buddies and the place where they are always eating, so on the trip away from the farm he weaves around going slow, trying to stop and turn around because he wants to keep track of the mares.... then after we are far enough away, he magically speeds up because he wants to get home sooner, and I have to keep slowing him down. He's a gaited horse and can do a fast walk which is nice, so we both agree on that. I also make him stop and turn around going the other direction if he gets pushy because you can't let a horse run back home. I keep some carrots in my pocket and he is rewarded for stopping and standing there. I have sung to my cats and they were very interested and came closer to investigate. It did make them stop what they were doing and listen. So cool that you trained horses and they had great musical taste!

@jenniferhunter I have always talked to animals. Another thing to keep in mind is not only singing or talking, but to picture in your mind what you would like to see them do/accomplish. They think in pictures, and you may find them becoming very attentive to you, accepting you as part of the tribe.
