Pain following a Right Total Knee Replacement

Posted by gardeningranny @gardeningranny, Sep 18, 2018

I had a Rt TKR in November 2017, have full flexion, pain free during the day. At night the knee becomes painful 5-6 on a pain scale. I have shooting pains when I move the knee, roll over in bed and get up during the night. If I get up to walk on it the pain leaves within a few minutes. It just does not like me laying down. I had a bone scan and the Impression was-There is mild abnormal active soft tissue inflammation-cellulitis-capsulitis-synovitis present involving the right knee joint. It is believed to be due to a combination of postsurgical inflammation-healing (given that the surgery was performed less than a year ago) and altered stress mechanics due to the presence of the arthroplasty. The implants are in solid. There is no infection as they tapped the knee. My Orthopedist said to wait for 6 months and maybe then repeat the bone scan. I can not take anti inflammatory drugs as I have only one kidney (donated 16 years ago). Has anyone had this problem?

Can you have stem cells after a RTK?

can't think of why not? 1st do no harm; felt rejuvenated after PRP AND STEM CELLS. Better balance - improved energy, could reach farther, more sure of my body, did not feel so cacoonish - came out of pain cocoon and body was like its former active self. If u want to try these - shop around, vet drs. choose carefully - like a teaching hospital.

This is a new Dr. as the Orthopedist I was seeing has left the practice. It will be good to have this over, heal and be able to sleep at night.

Thanks, this will be the 4th surgery and the 3rd replacement so going in with the mindset that 3 is a charm

I really am anxious to try Autologous Adipose Stem cell injections for my knees. Mayo has a clinical trial going on, but there are 200 on the waiiting list!!! I'm not sure I can wait that long. Starting to affect my mobility. Don't want to walk any further than I have to.....

@gardeningranny - did you have the revision? I was told Thursday that the femur part is loose. I have had the replacement for 13.5 months and if I choose to have the replacement it will be my 3rd surgery in 2 years
