Unlike your son's chemical allergies, my youngest had such severe food allergies the only thing he could safely eat from about 6 months of age for several years was meat or chicken, pure protein. I gave him vitamins but feared his growth would be stunted. Of course I would try to add other foods like rice and vegetables and gradually he improved, but with serious relapses. They didn't call it allergies then, they told me he didn't make digestive juices to digest food other than protein. The doctors also told me most kids would outgrown this in time.
