Brain Fog from Sinus infection and inflammation

Posted by czechmate @czechmate, Sep 6, 2018

I have had brain fog since early May 2018 which was due to Sinus infection and inflammation. I had sinus surgery but it did not clear up.
Been to every doctor and had every test run. All comes back clean. Any suggestions how I can reverse this brain fog which is constant?

Has anyone had success with the Wahls Paleo diet protocol? I am most interested in if you had brain reduction or reversal as that is my main symptom.

Hi @czechmate, the Wahls protocol diet got me started with eating healthier but I didn't really get down to the Paleo or Keto level. There are some articles out there that speak to it helping with brain fog, etc.. Here are a few I found:

Hello @sdgoddard10 , I’m so sorry you’re having these headaches and brain fog. What has your surgeon said about them? Have you been given any medications following the surgery that may have contributed? I included the link to a comment by @johnbishop that has some helpful information:

Are the headaches and brain fog so severe that you’re unable to work?

Yes, I have trouble focusing. He prescribed prednisone. He also recommended sinus flushing, Flonase, amoxicillin and acetaminophen. After second ct, he prescribed prednisone

Hi. I can provide some insight if you can provide some additional info.

Exactly what type of sinus surgery? As there are many.
What was your original diagnosis/issues and what was the sinus surgery intended to help?

Chronic sinusitis. I had septoplasty, bilateral inferior turbinate reduction, left balloon frontal sinusotomy, bilateral maxillary antrostomy and bilateral sphenoethmoidectomy

I’m sorry you are experiencing this. Those are quite alot of procedures to have at once.

How long was your history of sinus inflammation?

There are about 50 reasons sinus inflammation occurs. Which has nothing to do with anatomical structure.

Did you address all systemic sources of inflammation before sinus surgery?

Did your surgeon explain that sinus surgery does not address the inflammatory response that occurs from within the body as a natural response?
