Hi I'm New Here. Going To Be Visiting Mayo Clinic
Hi...I've been coming to Mayo Clinic in Rochester since October of 1999. I had two hip replacement surgeries here. Both of them were successful. Although currently my left hip replacement has been hurting me to the point of where it is hard for me to walk. I'm going to be coming to Mayo on the 29th, and 3oth to see my back, and hip doctors. I love coming to Rochester, and am looking forward to the trip.

Hello @50surgeries nice to see you here on Mayo Connect and to hear you enjoy Rochester! I have to say for the years and years my wife and I traveled there we also did enjoy the city, people, and some really good meals when we'd be feeling like we deserved a treat 🙂
I am sorry to hear of the trouble with your hip replacement. I hope the doctors can give you some help, relief, etc. on this visit! I am putting off knee replacement, but know I need to bit the bullet and as Nike says "Just Do It" sometime soon and will do it at Mayo I am sure.
What is it you like about Rochester? It would be fun to know!
Strength, courage, and peace!
The people there are very warm, and friendly. My mom, and I have been there so much now that we know our way around the city. It was amazing when we were there in March of 2012, and we had just found out that I was going to need my second hip replaced. My first hip was replaced on October 30th, 2000.
My mom knew there was a Catholic Church nearby, and we went to it from our hotel on that Sunday, for their early Mass. She walked pushing me in my wheelchair. I was to have my hip replacement surgery the next day.
The people at the Catholic Church were very wonderful, and welcoming to us. Many asked us during the moment where we shake hands, and say, “Peace be with you” where we were from. They didn’t even have to ask us why we were there because seeing me in my wheelchair. It was obvious we were there to go to Mayo.
One person even said, “Are you ladies here to go to the Mayo Clinic?” I said, “Yeah. I’m having my second hip replacement surgery tomorrow.” The man smiled at me, and said, “Good luck!”
My mom, and I also love going to eat at Victoria’s Italian Bistro. We always make sure we eat there every time we come.
Delicious! It is amazing how much comfort we get by visiting a favorite, or familiar place to eat when returning! My husband likes to get a huge burger and a local bear at Newts. I like to get the Canadian Walleye at Canadian Honker.
I don't know how difficult it is for you to get around. If you haven't done so and if you are able, go to see the chapel at St. Mary's Hospital.
Been there! I love it!
