@merpreb, @tdrell, @windwalker, @migizii, @ginak and all others. I have found an interesting article, published in 2015, raising a novel possibility: "Based on these results, the researchers concluded that concomitant presence of bronchiectasis in COPD patients with moderate to very severe airflow limitation was inversely associated with the risk of lung cancer. The researchers suggest that other studies should explore the possible protective effect of bronchiectasis on lung cancer".
Here is the article:

@danielad Dee, over the years I have come across many articles sighting that those with bronchiectasis and/or COPD are more suseptible to getting lung cancer. I have severe COPD also, so of course those articles scared the bajeezus out of me. I chose not to worry about that. I personally don't see how having bronchiectasis can circumvent getting lung cancer. Having damaged lungs I think would possibly make the lungs weaker and more vunerable to cancer. When citing articles; we should always be careful of the source. I do not want our members to think that now they have lung cancer to worry about. Most of us will live out our lives with bronchiectasis and always trying to stay one step ahead of infections. Newer drugs have come out since many of these articles have been written too. So don't wig out people.
