I have stopped taking Anastrozole after just over 5 years' treatment. Most important for medical personnel and researchers and manufacturers is that my reaction which has included fatigue and energy/ mood swings dramatically entered a massive suicidal depression approx 9 days after stopping. I have only once experienced suicidal thoughts in my life and that was following a major relationship break up. I was weepy and feeling very unworthy and alone. I also wanted to self-harm. Again I have no history of this ideation. My GP knew nothing of these possible results - and in fact anticipated I would feel better for being off the tablets. So I believe it is very important to share this information far and wide. Fortunately I was able to find some resources within my which steered me off these destructive urges and had friends to de-brief with in the following days. This is now 4 weeks since stopping and mood and energy swings continue but not the major depression.
I am sorry to hear that. How are you feeling?
I quit taking 6 months ago Anastrozole after taking it for 5 years. Now I believe I am getting an autoimmune disorder. My PCP will not listen to my symptoms. I have Auricular hardening, nodules on my finger joints and on other areas of my body, sensitivity to sunlight, Tachycardia if I am outside when it is over 80 degrees, lesions in nostrils on and off, white fingernails, my arches in my feet collapse and are painful if I am on them too long each day and I was just diagnosed with Diabetes. I have severely dry eyes per my Ophthalmologist. I have a severely dry vagina per my OB GYN doctor. My scalp is very dry and flakey, and my hair is falling out. I just developed Atherosclerosis of the Coronary artery. I also have osteopenia and have stress incontinence and have to urinate every hour. I have some fatigue. You're not alone.
vikkr Just wondering...did all of those symptoms occur a short time after stopping the Arimidex? Were any of them prior to/when you were still taking the drug? I was unable to take any of the AI's due to side effects but I'm just curious about your situation.....??
