@ihatediabetes You will do great for your 5k! How many weeks before your race? I love to run but haven't been able to as of recent due to an injury and other circumstances (not related to running). For running I follow the Jeff Galloway method (Google his name and you will find books etc..). I run intervals 3 - 4 minutes walk 1 minute. The 1 min. is for my body to recover. I've run 5k, 12k, half marathons, marathon relay and one marathon. Based on your 'name' I'm guessing you have diabetes? Type 1 or 2 and how do to manage your blood sugar right before, during and after your workout? I have a friend who's type 1 so I'm familiar with what she has to do during a competition.

I have type 2 but I don't take insulin. That is associated with low blood sugar. So I don't have to worry about passing out from low blood sugar. So it's not as complicated with type 2 compared with type 1.Running has metabolic benefits for diabetes.
