Anxiety, stress or what??

Posted by amtxo1989 @amtxo1989, Jul 9, 2018

Since December 2017 I hhave been dealing with a wide variety of symptoms that have plagued me every single day for 8months. Symptoms are heightened anxiety, panic attacks, episodes of racing heart with hypertension, full body aches, epsidoes of extreme cold or feeling feverish,
Jitteryness, internal vibrations, tightness in my chest. The worst symptom is a stressful feeling that comes over my body , almost the feeling if you got done doing something strenuous or had a very heated argument with someone but all I'm doing at time is watching TV šŸ™ the feeling makes my chest tight and my bp going high. Ive had countless blood work in months that all returned normal. Countless ekgs that return normal. A normal MRI and EEG. iam hypothyroid and initially the syntpoms felt very hyperthyroid BC I had tooo much energy but after seeing 5 different endos the bloodwork shows iam still hypothyroid with inactive graves disease and was told there is no way what's happening to me is thyroid related. It honestly feels like more stress related than anxiety when it comes on. And its not an all day feeling either. It comes in episodes. It happens evening single evening. Ive been on xanex 1mg since January BC it is the ONLY medicine that eliminates my symptoms as soon as they start. Has anyone else been through this?? My docs are clueless

I see that you are 29, but if there is something going on that would cause your female hormones to go out of balance, it might cause anxiety. I am older and take compounded bioidentical hormone replacement, and when my doctor changed my doses making the progesterone more dominant that estrogen, it caused anxiety. Getting it balanced again resolved it. You might want a doctor to test your hormone levels. Another suggestion I could make to you is to write a journal about significant events in your life and how you feel about them. You might find a pattern that will be a clue to something that was long buried in your past, but your unconscious mind remembers it. If you have some unresolved fears that are getting triggered by something you're thinking about, it might be bringing up old anxiety. I had that happen to me because I went through spine surgery (at Mayo), and I had to face my fears and figure out where they came from in order to deprogram them. I did a lot of things to educate myself in order to make the best choice for me, and I had to confront the fear and make friends with it. Doing all that changed my life and I got through my surgery with gratitude. Gratitude is an antidote for fear.

I am a 71 year old male. MBSR might be useful. I try to exercise, get outside. I keep a gratitude journal. I try to help others. Breathing calmly really works. You must remember Feelings are NOT facts. Nno-one has ever directly died from anxiety (I worked for a cardiac rehab program to help relax recovering heart surgery patients.) Contact Stress.org for more information. You will get better!!

Ron, I need some reinforcement. It seems these days that ANY stressor brings on a wave of nausea and nervousness. I used to be able to handle anything gracefully and confidently. Does age have anything to do with stress response? Can aging weaken the gut-brain connector? If I canā€™t face minor incidents without these feelings of extreme illness washing over me, what happens when the inevitable big problems occur?!?
Thank you in advance for your insight and assistance. Anne

mbabkk: thank you so much for responding to me! And, yes, Iā€™m working at staying calm. Quality of life depends on my succeeding at that.

Exercise makes.me feel worse. Well after i exercise I feel horrible. But not during. Horrible as in it triggers something in.my nervous system that makes.me.mentally and physically feel awful and anxious. Never did this before December. Before i got sick in December I worked out everyday for years with zero negative effects.

Hi @amtxo1989, I know this reply is late in coming but I have read all your post and they are very similar to me. I had hypothyroidism and now I have Hashimoto thyroiditis. I will share with you that I went through 5 regular doctors and an endocrinologist. They only prescribed me levothyroxine and my dosage kept going up and my symptoms kept getting worse. But...there is hope. I too had vertigo, I was prescribed Valium and it helps, however, since my thyroid is working, I have not had to take that in about 2 years. I went to an otolaryngologists and he prescribed that for me, he also shared they are doing studies and are finding a connection with vertigo and hypothyroidism. I also had internal shakiness, and mood swings, I happened to mention this to my OB GYN and he recommended B6 and it worked like a charm! I will also mention that the internal jitters was my 1st symptom of hypothyroidism. I also had heart palpitations, which my internet said was SVT, I was fortunate to have a RN at my place of employment that when I had episodes, out of nowhere, she would take my pulse rate and blood pressure, I eventually got to the hospital in time for them to catch the episode and went to heart surgeon for an ablation surgery, I have not had an episode since. Now, different symptoms kept coming, my meds kept going up, finally after lots of reading I knew I wanted to get on a dedicated thyroid medication. I found a functional/integrative nurse practitioner and she did thyroid test that that includes your antibodies and your free T3 & 4 and that was the beginning of my getting better. She put me on a dedicated thyroid medicine (Nature Throid) along with my levothyroxine and my levothyroxine dose went from 150 to 10. But the best thing she has done is taken blood test that normal doctors won't. Micronutrients blood work should be a must for everyone, get you vitamins and minerals checked. You will feel so much better. I want to encourage you to read and advocate for yourself. Thyroid affects ALL our cells. Keep searching for what works for you. I was low on several vitamins and minerals and my hormones were out of whack as well,. Our health is part of life and a lifelong journey. Please, find a functional doctor or nurse practitioner, get the proper blood work, they will help and you will start to feel better. I still have my MD who I see once a year, for a second opinion, she loves the blood work my NP does on me and says keep doing what works. Hope my story helps you.

it sounds like you could be getting some relief by talking about this with a caring friend relative or therapist. it is always our hope that a new medication or diagnosis will relieve these smyptoms and it is awful not to get ANSWERS but sharing your feelings with someone who cares about you will help you through while searching for answers
