I have h hernia and i feel better when i lay down so maybe its better for me

@lillard87; @kessme; - Good morning and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You hit the nail on the head with realizing that sleeping eases some of the side effects of your hernia. "For some reason, this seems to prompt relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter — the tight ring of muscle connecting the stomach and esophagus that normally defends against reflux. Do sleep on your left side. This is the position that has been found to best reduce acid reflux.Aug 9, 2011" (everydayhealth.com). Is this the side that you sleep on?
Have you been to see a GI doctor recently? Usually, if you have breathing difficulties during the day it's likely to be because your hernia is large. Has your doctor recommended surgery?
