Mysterious shortness of breath: What has helped you?

I’ve got the same thing!!! I really think it’s time we got all together and head up to MAYO TOGETHER! My daughter also has this. Many days we have it at the same time. One day we went in together and the doc said - Allergies, and to use Nose spray morning and night year round, as well as an allergy pill OTC and to see if that will help. But what we have noticed is we also get this from caffeine, including chocolate, as well as not getting enough sleep. So obviously that can’t be just pollen allergies and strange timing... When I asked about that I got the “panic attack” come back. I told him when this first started happening yes I panicked. But after going to the ER 5 times and realizing I wasn’t going to die, seeing a heart guy, lung guy, allergy guy, I’m well versed. I’ve tried the breathing and the breath holding can help a bit. I got frustrated with doctors and stopped trying because I was told to go to a councilor or breath into a bag, when I’d already done all of that and have a level head. I’d even entertained that and did their medicine for anxiety and nothing changed. Same with asthma meds which felt like made it worse. Anyway, if you have others like you, me and my daughter that you keep in touch with I would love to be added to the list. I can’t give up now that my daughter is going through this too 🙁 maybe with enough of us together we can figure this out.

Thanks for giving us confirmation it's not in our heads. If it were, it wouldn't affect two people in the same house at the same time. Have you researched histamine intolerance? Could there possibly be any undetected mold in the house? We moved into a year old home and I found mold in the ice dispenser. Something told me to look in there when I was cleaning the fridge. Glad I did.

@cantbreathe101 Hi there. This SOB issue and panick attacks is becoming increasingly prevalent. I have to wonder if it isn't something in our food source. Or something environmental that we all have in common. I head the 'Mac & Bronchiectasis' group, and the one thing we all have in common is that our immune system cannot fight off the common bacterias that are in tap water.

Sorry but to inform but I went to the Mayo in Rochester for 2 weeks. After all kinds of test including a neurologist I was told they can’t find anything and was sent home. Might be different for some ppl but was a real let down for me. The only advice I got was to see a stress therapist
