@gabrielm @merpreb I alo can do intense exercise and feel good while doing it. It actually started when I started running and I thought I just I was deconditioned but months later I am still trying to catch a deep breath. My oxygen level is good as well as my EKG and pulmonary function test all normal! I am 43 in good heath and never have I had any heartburn or problems with reflux nor do i have allergies. I am constant yawning or trying to get that deep breth that only last for 30sec or so. I guess i wouldnt call it SOB its just that I have the need to fill my lungs up by yawning or sighing. I read about psedodyspnea and it bascially talks about anexity and reflux and again I dont have. I am happy at my place in life. I just dont understand why all of a sudden this started. Is it a neuro thing i wonder at times? I have tried breathing txs and that does nothing. I guess I can live with it but at times its annoying and I just want it to go away. I am on no meds and have a health lifestyle. I would like to keep in touch with you guys just in case there is a miracle answer. Thanks for listening

Welcome @tonyagregg. I'm also including @gabrielm in this post. I'm glad that you have spoken up. It's always disconcerting when something suddenly changes in our body, especially breathing! What kind of a doctor did you go to? It sounds like the doctor tested for the usual causes of shortness of breath. Did they also do any blood work? If you are planning to live with this than you at least should know what is causing it and how to manage it. I know that there are things in life that can't be explained, but a lot can. And there are a lot of things that you weren't tested for. If need be please make an appointment with a good Pulmonologist. They are the specialists.
Mayo has a great explanation of the usual explanations:https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/shortness-of-breath/basics/causes/sym-20050890
I have exercise induced asthma. No tests shows that I have asthma.or Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/exercise-induced-asthma/symptoms-causes/syc-20372300
I wish you the best in trying to find the cause. Please let me know if you do!

Yes @tonyagregg, I'd like to keep in touch with you. Sounds like what you have is pretty similar to me. It's been much worse before, but it's stabled out. Still not gone by any means, but I can at least live with it. Let's stay in touch. Maybe we can tag team our research or let each other know if we find some kind of answers.

I'm new to this website and am pisting a teply a year from this post but because I can relate to many of these posts concerning breathing issues that are unexplainable, I thought I'd share that I too have significnat breathing issues that do not appear to be a result of my asthma. My pft indicated moderately severe obstruction but my co2 in the blood is fine. No issues with ct scans either. I have been researching this issue for quite some time. Through some additional tests, I found out that I have Baretts esophageal and this has been known to cause breathing issues. I also am checking to see if I have trachea stenosis due to having too many surgeries/procedures that I had to be intubated. You folks might want to ask your PCP about Barretts and possible Trachea issues. From my inderstanding, both can lead to debilitating issues. My breathing is so bad that I had to cut back to working 3/4 time at the age of 55. Not good. Hopefully my upcoming appointment with gastrointerology will shed some light on the issue. God bless.

Hi, I know it's been over a year, but I just came across this site. I'm suffering with exactly what you described. I was just wandering, did you manage to control it or have found a therapy which works. Your response would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

same here.. have you had a full Thyroid workup? The Thyroid can cause SOB

Hi Tonya, I’m experiencing the same thing. This has been happening for the last three months. I woke up from sleep at 4am unable to get that deep breath. Never happened to me before and I’ve been dealing with this inability to get that deep breath unless I do shallow breaths so it’s completely messed up my normal breathing. I’ve seen every dr from 2 diff pulmonologists to allergists to dermos to two diff general practitioners to An ent. They all say I’m normal (Bloodwork, mri and ct scan all indicate no issue) and seem to think it’s anxiety. But I’m actually less stressed then ever before with the exception of my concerns about Covid. I do have allergies to dust mites but not where I’m sneezing all the time kind of thing. My nose gets stuffy and runs here and there. I am exhausted from this issue. Have you gotten any relief??

This is as close as an explanation of what I feel. I can do hard exercise with no problem. In fact sometimes it helps! It's not SOB but more of that deep satisfying breath. It started about a year and a half ago. I went on Omeprazole and it went away for a year. My doctor wanted me to try to go off so I did and it has returned. I went back on Omeprazole but it didn't help. Endoscopy and biopsy showed mild redness but no hernia or bacteria. Increased Omeprazole to 2x a day. Hasnt helped. When it's bad I do feel bloated but not also. I'm so over it!! I was just prescribed Pantoprazole DOD DR 40mg. Fingers crossed

You are describing everything I feel. I am similar age as well. However, I do get anxious. I did have bloodwork, and chest xray which were clear. I have not had an EKG, but am scheduled for the lung function test. I need to follow this conversation as this makes me anxious.

Hi Tonya,You may want to consider Babesia infection as the cause of your air hunger. That's what causes mine. May be a miracle answer, but the cure is a problem for some people like me (i.e., not cured by standard treatment).

Hi tonny hope you doing good . Just want to share my story which is same I am 29 years old and I was running and after few hours it started and did all heart test all good but I am still have difficulty taking deep breath, excessive yawning and my dr. says it’s anxiety or depression but I don’t have any of them don’t know what to do still living with it please let me know if any one have got solve this health issue
