Yes, I contacted my team first and they referred me to the specialty pharmacy. I’m assuming the hair loss was due to the trauma from surgery and I also had steroid infusions. My fingernails also had horizontal grooves on them and one was also kind of falling apart. Biotin is supposed to help with both. It’s all good now 🙂

I aso had thinning hair and nail issues. When I mentioned it to the transplant dermotalogist at my 4 month check-up, he said I could take over the counter Biotin for it. That must have been at my 4month check up. I remember that I had devised a way to safely wrap my finger tips with tape to prevent them snagging and pulling off, and I wore gloves for protection on my first post transplant hiking adventure 6 months after my transplant. My hair and nails recovered nicely. That was 9 years ago.
My hairdresser also recommended that I use a gentle shampoo.

This past year, I started taking biotin again, and my transplant team did not have any problem with it.
