Diabetic Neuropathy progressing?
Hello have had diabetes type 2 for about 4 years now, plus several years of prediabetes. I take Farxiga daily. Have been able to keep my BG numbers below 160 and at the beginning of the year have gone low carb so my BG is usually around 69-92 now. I have the burning feet off and on but lately my calve/s have been feeling cold/numb and I was wondering if this might be neuropathy also? I was wondering if others have had this experience? How your neuropathy progressed, symptoms,

My cousin is coming to visit me shortly who has diabetes so I was reading about food that lowers blood sugar and discovered drinking water just after getting up and eating cruciferous veggies has been shown to lower blood glucose levels. It can also help prevent and reverse diabetic neuropathy.
I was curious if anybody ever ate this way and found it to be of any benefit.

sjustus, Hi, I have used 2 of their products, one for leg cramps and one for restless leg syndrome; I usually dissolve 2 under my tongue and the RLS one better but haven’t used either for a while. I don’t think they would help much with numbness and tingling. Others here have successfully used medical marijuana but it is not legal in my state. Helen
Good evening @sjustus, greetings from the world of medical cannabis and neuropathy. Do you have a diagnosis from your clinician of any of the neuropathies? I have small fiber peripheral neuropathy sometimes seen as SFPN. I am not diabetic. However, it is good to have a diagnosis because different types of neuropathy respond to different treatments and then differently by dosages and other unique characteristics of every individual.
I have controlled the pain of SFPN for five years without opioids. I use gabapentin for the tingles and numbness in the evenings and tinctures of medical cannabis with different types and dosages for sleeping and living through another day. What are you using? Have you been referred to a pain clinic? How long have you had RLS? (Restless leg syndrome). My life partner has been dealing with RLS for quite some time. He also has moved from gabapentin to medical cannabis tinctures.
Please share a little more about your symptoms, your clinicians, and your treatments. Everyone just doesn't fit in the same basket.
May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris

Hi, my wife has chemo induced peripheral neuropathy in her feet/ankles. She has tried some of the Hylands homeopathics but the sugar pills give her candida (i.e. yeast in gut flareups). She is allergic to almost all medications. What has given her relief most successfully is marijuana. She smokes it about 2 to 3 times per week when the pain is most dire (meaning more dire than the usual hell she normally endures). She has also been using kratom (a pain killer derived from a SE Asian leaf). That gives her relief from pain for hours. Unfortunately it also makes her both nauseated at times and usually very "out of it", sort of like almost catatonic. She has also tried (so far unsuccessfully) cannabis oil. So, bottom line, her best go to is, as some used to call it back in the 60's and 70's, Mary Jane. Best, Hank
I am a Type 1 Diabetic starting to experience numbness and tingling in legs and feet. I doubt if it works but today I saw something at the drug store called Hyland’s Restful Legs and wondered if anyone had any success with this Homeopathic med. I am also interested in hearing from anyone who might have tried medical marijuana for their neuropathy. Thanks!
Hi @sjustus, I add my welcome. Specifically you are asking about Hyland's Restful Legs. @hotfooted @machammytech @barbarn @garydoys and other have mentioned this product and may have some experience to share with you in addition to the experiences shared already by @helennicola @artscaping and @jesfactsmon. As I have mentioned in some of my other post I'm using 600 mg of Benfotiamine once a day in the morning. It has been a Mainstay for me and the neuropathy in my Kohl's in the bottom side of the ball of my feet. As far as cannabis goes I do use it and I feel it does work but I use it principally so that I can go to sleep. But I have noticed that if my feet are acting up before I go to bed if I smoke just a little bit of it it does help a great deal. I'm 70 and conservative don't let the stigma of the 1960s and 70s shy you away from using do you properly dispensed and legal cannabis product.
sjustus: you may want to talk to your doctor about the brand name Metanx, also available in generic. I have used it for years to prevent/alleviate neuropathy issues, and it has worked well for me. Basically it’s a mixture of high-dose vitamins and is considered a “medical food”. Many insurance companies will cover it (it’s prescription only); I’m very satisfied with the results.
