No clue what’s going on!

Posted by lea101 @lea101, Apr 2, 2018

Hey, so I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the right place but anyways;
I’ve been having a bunch of symptoms starting December 2016 and I’m very confused as to what could be the problem. I had gained 35 pounds from beginning of January- April without changing my diet or exercise. Following that I’ve been having horrible cystic acne on my chin and jaw, and I’ve lost over have my head of hair. I’ve also been dealing with gastrointestinal issues including bloating, extreme pains and blood in my stool. I’ve had a bunch of tests done and basically everything came back fine and ruled out PCOS thyroid disorders and Cushing. I’m kinda at a lost as what could be the issue and it’s causing me so much emotional stress I’m not sure what to do.

@lea101 So sorry with what your going through.
Have you been to a gastroenterologist Dr. ? Did you have a Colonopscopy and/or Endoscopy as one of these tests? When I was having stomach issues, and they didn't know what was going on? The GI Dr. ordered both these tests. What type of Dr's have you been too?

Hi, @lea101 -- I also wanted to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect. I can imagine this would be causing a lot of emotional stress, like you said. You have taken wise steps in getting some testing done.

There have been a number of discussions regarding bloating. Here are some links to a couple of those discussions, both of which started some time ago but have been still active:

You might also check out this thread, where a number of members have talked about trying to figure out a situation where the member thinks it's not PCOS: https://mayocl.in/2H81R0L.

Hoping you can take a look at these and join in any of these discussions.

Hi, @lea101 - wondering how things are going? You'd talked about getting some tests done to try and explain your gastrointestinal symptoms, weight gain, cystic acne and hair loss. Has anything been determined about what might have been going on?
