Botox Injections placed near and/or around the Pyloric Sphincter.

Hi everyone! I'm really new to this forum and I wanted to see if anyone has ever received Botox injections in their stomach to treat Gastroperisis and Vagus Nerve Dysfunction? I just wanted to know if it's been effective more times than not. I understand everyone is different but if it worked for you or someone you knew what is the "normal" frequency of these injections, experience day of and through the procedure, any side effects experienced. My GI specialist told me that if after the first round of Botox injections don't work, they were not going to work and even though I'm not really a candidate for the gastric pacemaker, if I wanted I could then go see another specialist to discuss that treatment. All I know is I'm so tired of chasing my tail with all these symptoms that seemed to be more unmanaged than managed. I have a long story, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. This is great news, @kamg. I am just beginning this path and have a gastro-emptying test on Thursday. Seeing a neurologist today. Everything is point to Gastroparesis. I can eat a little but it comes and goes, and the nausea is tough. I have to resort to Zofran to get through some nights. I am praying a lot and hope once there is a diagnosis there is a plan. The hospital I attend does the Botox, so I am hopeful if this is what it is I can respond to this and then maybe have the ability to look into a G-POEM that people have been saying has been a Godsend. My life shifted as if overnight... I am trying to work, but it's really a challenge.

Very interested to read all this. My 17 y.o. daughter had suspected Rumination Syndrome and now gastroparesis. For the first several months it was vomiting and no nausea. Now it's both and more like vomiting from the gut. We've tried many meds and today she got the Botox injections, four of them. I'm just wondering how long before you know if it worked.

i have been diagnosed with a " hypersensitive esophagus". thsi is after the fundo was done in 2016. I have had 2 dilations to get the fodd thru. do not get food stuck in your LES. it is very painfull. it has been 2.5 years of togugh times with this fundo. the Hypersensitive esophagus causes pain like heartburn whic we know i don't have, becuase of testing (bravo). the surgeon wants to inject botox into my pyloric sphincter because my stomach emptying time is very slow ( rheumatoid arthritis as well as oxycodone). what side effects has anyone felt form the botox? does it reduce the effect of " too much fullness) as well as "esophagus type pain"? i also have no gallbladder. since the fundo i have put on 23 lbs, becuse i have a problem drinking water, since it hols up in the esophagus at the fundo(barium swallow test). i have had to drink boost supplement with my meals. this is where the weight gain comes in.....thank you ...kozlo52

It made me numb even down to my pelvis,its been 28 days I am more swelled I feel like there's balloons in my stomach at times I can not move at least before I could drink now drinking feels me up like eating, I might be allergic to it who knows Worse decision I ever made.

i'm so sorry to hear this. my thoracic surgeon wanted to do this to me to enable the emptying of the stomach which might be contributing to my perceived heartburn(there is no more acid reflux due to all the testing we've done). i have hypersensitive esophagus as well as weak esophagus muscles due to my rrheumatoid arthritis. the fundoplication performed should not have been performed on me. i hope this wears off for you quickly or you need to get another specialist to help you out of this chaos. i have 4 pages of medicines that i can't take due to bad reactions. My immune system is very sensitive. it sounds like your immune system is very sensitive, also. from what i've read this is a temporary fix and should not last beyond 3 months. please push for relief.... is there anyone else out there who has had the pyloric sphincter injected with botox who might offer advice for recovery to marleyeleanordietrich@monday555?.... i sincerely thank you for your feedback........god bless.....kozlo52

I have had gastroperisis for 6 years diagnosed. I have a gj tube for feeding and a gastric pacemaker. It dosent help with emptying my stomach due to the fact my stomach is completely dead and now my intestines and colon are dying. The pacemaker is amazing for the nausea and vomiting though. If worth anything that would be it. Hope this helps

I am scheduled to have this done next Friday. I forgot to ask my GI doc if I will experience pain post procedure?
