@teresatopeka Airborne is on the list of drugs from my hospital that you are not supposed to take when you are on immunosuppressants, perhaps when you are under a doctor's care that changes. Obviously it works the opposite of the immunosuppressants though.
I think you are right that good nutrition, plenty of rest are the best antidotes. I have figured at this point that my cold has become bronchitis. Apparently bronchitis can develop from a cold but bronchitis is not contagious. It does last longer and even after a person feels better the cough can last for a month.
I feel more comfortable now knowing that my body will eventually be able to fight this off, it will just take longer. What I was concerned about was that I would end up back in the hospital like I did when I had Legionnaire's Disease. From what I have read online, there really is not much you can do for bronchitis except try to alleviate the symptoms. I dread going to bed though, I cough all night. I am doing everything that it says to do - my head is on an incline, I am having tea with honey before bed, and I am taking an OTC that is supposed to help with a sore throat and cough.

I'm so glad you recovered. Did you to go back to hospital? Do you know how you contracted It?
What is coat throat tea?
@gayleaf1 If you put a @ sign, followed by the name of the person your comment or response is directed to, they will know there is a response specifically to them. It makes it easier if there are a lot of messages and you can't give each the attention that you would like to be able to, plus in a case like your response here, it's impossible to know whom you are asking.

Hi, @gaylea1 -- I believe you are asking if the Legionnaire's Disease @contentandwell mentioned sent her back to the hospital and if she knows how she contracted it, correct?
@gaylea1 I recall that you will transplant at Mayo. To reduce a little bit of your worry, you will receive instructions from the transplant team after transplant about how to live and stay healthy with your new organ. They also have a 24/7 phone line to transplant services, and you will have a post transplant nurse.
Keep asking these great questions because we are all learning so much together!
@gaylea1 it is an herbal tea that soothes sure throats.
@gaylea1 I believe contracted Legionnaire's at my daughter's wedding reception! My daughter lives in NYC so we were there for a long weekend around the date of her wedding reception so it's possible I got it elsewhere but her reception was in an old warehouse converted to a trendy function place. Frankly I did not like it, but it was her reception -- the ceremony was two weeks prior, a very intimate family affair in our home. There was probably a low concentration of it in the air, which is how it spreads because to our knowledge no one else did get it. With my low immunity though I did.
About a month after I was in the hospital I got a call from the Board of Health wanting to know everywhere I had been in the 10 days leading up to my getting sick. They too thought the function venue was the most likely place.
I was very glad that I went to MGH because they are so thorough. Legionnaire's is a type of pneumonia but it is treated with a different antibiotic so the initial diagnosis was pneumonia but they continued to run tests and then got a positive on Legionnaire's. I think if I had been in my local hospital they would have stopped at the pneumonia diagnosis.

@jodeej Is there a specific brand? I would like to pick some up.
Thanks.

I may have had the flu, but the flu did not have me!
