@littleonefmohio I also live in cold weather and don't like walking outside in general. I have paced out my house and can make a circuit of 50 steps. I started with a goal of 500 steps a day. Then I had the opportunity to go to Wal-Mart and was able to get in 1800 steps in one trip. Now I just pace my house when it is too nasty to go outside and go to Wal-Mart, Menards or one of two malls we have in our town to just walk. We also have a senior walking program and a regional athletic center I could sign up with to walk, but I like freebies. I understand you have a little one at home, and I urge you to take your child along. I knew a woman that wanted to lose her baby weight and put the child in a stroller and away she went! It helped both of them. She got a good workout and her baby got good naps. Good luck to you!

@littleonefmohio My Mother in law had COPD and smoked. She had panic attacks too.. I think some of the attack is just knowing you have a disease. I got them alot when they told me I had 2 primary cancers at the same time. I never hyperventilated in life until that day.

And yes, you need to be in a warm climate. The cold weather makes it hard to breath. Can you cover your face with a scarf going outside, and maybe get to an indoor mall to walk? At lot of the indoor malls by me, let people in early, to just walk around. Is that option available to you?

Trust me quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Nicotine is an extremely powerful drug. Hang in there you can do it. I did and what a difference it has made.

Seriously try the Ginger Candy.. Cause I failed at everything else out there. Then someone online told me to try it and I thought Ginger Candy?? Yea right and It worked.. There is enough kick in the flavor to make your senses get through a nicotine attack.. It is strong and the flavor gives that sense of burning going down the throat just like a cigarette does.

Keep us updated please.. .

@travelgirl I noted your advice of using Ginger Candy. I am not a smoker, but at one point I wanted to enhance my intake of ginger and tried the candies. I could not handle the taste! I am glad they worked for you and hope they work for everyone else also. I guess something strong is needed to break the strong addiction of nicotine!

@2011panc Thank you. Yes I also pace the house and walk outside when I can. I do plan on taking the grandbaby with me when I do finally get to go outside. Wow you did great with your walking. Keep it up! Thank you God bless.

@travelgirl I have never heard of Ginger Candy. I will look into getting some. Can you tell me where to get it at? Thank you for the support. There is a mall around here but I hardly leave the house because of anxiety. I will try to walk though because I have my sister close by so I do not have to go too far. Thank you

@littleonefmohio They are called Gin Gins the orginal chewy ginger candy, made by a company called the Ginger People . I have bought them at just about any health food store. When I googled the name Walmart popped up selling them too. Now peppermint candy also helped me too..
Something else you may want to ask your DR about is Yoga? My Dr reccomended it to me. Yoga did help calm me down too. Maybe try that as well. And so you know I never did yoga or even thought about doing it. They even have a Chair yoga class.. That is for beginners and seniors. We had a lady with parkinson disease in the class too. She said it helped her alot.
Best of luck..
