@amyintucson

I have stomach and diarrhea issues at times, plus the sweet breath and extreme fatigue. I also don't work as I would be very unreliable because of some of these ongoing complications - going on for the last couple of years. Every case is different.

@amyintucson You sound a lot like me. My diarrhea and stomach problems were fine when I was able to not be on lactulose though.
You are right, we each seem to have differences in our conditions. I had a lot of symptoms that are typical of cirrhosis and I still do not understand, nor will I ever, why my PCP was not able to put it all together, some were so obvious — plunging platelet count, HE episodes, shaking hands, always cold, sleeping difficulty. I still go to him, I had planned to change this year, but i know I will never trust him to give me a diagnosis with anything other than a very common ailment.

My PCP is great, but he works for a large health care provider which really limits what they can do in the office - everything seems to get referred. I was going to begin looking for a new doc, but then my GI doc joined the same practice in the same office! Love her, so I guess I'm staying. I was in living in NJ when my sarcoidosis was first diagnosed and my primary was so supportive.

@amyintucson Just reading through posts, trying to catch up. I am way behind.
I wonder if perhaps a doctor of osteopathy would be better at putting all of the symptoms together. I have heard that osteopaths treat the whole person, so that makes me think about that.
I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow. I really don't want to go and I don't even know why I am going. I agreed to the appointment because I'm afraid if I didn't he would drop me, and at this point I don't want to have to find a new PCP, but I think he is pretty useless, but you do need to have a doctor of record in case you need something.

@contentandwell I may look into an osteopath (my mother-in-law swore by them). Like you, I see so many specialists I don't feel I need the PCP and don't want the aggravation of searching for a new one right now. Saw my endocrinologist today and she felt a thyroid nodule so now I need to have an ultrasound to check it out. Grrr

@amyintuscon Amy, if you do look into osteopaths I would be interested in hearing what you think. Initially I was skeptical but when I discovered that Dartmouth gives degrees in osteopathy I figured it must be pretty legit.
I hope the nodule turns out to not be any of great concern. Please keep us posted.
