Who will lead the protest in Washington?

OK we hear all the stories about how people have lost loved ones to opioid overdoses. And I feel for these people. I'm sorry for them and the pain I know they must feel but what about the pain we feel. You never hear the stories from people like us who suffer each day with no relief in sight and don't suffer from cancer. I feel they hush us on purpose. Of course I'm also paranoid and I could be a tad bit wrong about them hushing us on purpose but think about why do we never hear our stories. Don't we count. I tell you I get terribly scared when I think about having to deal with the pain by sure will. Well I'm a weak willed person. Day after day of not being able to function. The only time I come close to any relief is when I lay down and be very still. Is this any kind of life. Do they even care and why not. They say people are dying of accidental overdoses and go from prescription pills to street drugs. Well are they so stupid that they can't see that that number will increase even more. Take everyone's pain pills away and most will hit the streets looking for what ever they can get their hands on for even just a few brief moment of relief. And not knowing anything about street drugs these are the ones who will accidentally overdose. So that number will rise also. Then lets talk about how they will spend all their money to buy these now illegal drugs. This may say these people are addicts. But hell no I'm not an addict. I take my meds as prescribed and I don't get any kind of high from them because it take every ounce of the drug to knock out the pain. But people are not made to suffer day in and day out. And if you are one who is strong enough to deal with pain without meds then I applaud you. Good for you. I say making people suffer with their chronic pain is just plain cruel. Ok I didn't mean to say all this. But if I knew there would be hundreds of us I would lead the way to Washington. I would use the last penny in my change jar. So who else would go? And who else is willing to lose their mind eventually from suffering every day.

My depression and anxiety and PTSD and suicidal ideation were present before the chronic pain hit. I'm fortunate that I had a spinal cord stimulator implant last year in June, and had 80% pain reduction in my feet from idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. But I seem to be experiencing more pain as time goes by, and I need to talk with the doctor about increasing my morphine sulfate contin dosage. Like you, the pain lets up if I stay in bed, but not even then, most nights.

I don't know how long I'll be able to live with the increasing pain. Suicide is never far from my mind. My doctor's group cut way back on the maximum dosage they permit the doctors to prescribe, and I had to have permission from my pain specialist, who's not associated with my pcp's group, to exceed the limit. It's a ridiculously low maximum dosage.

Trouble with marching in D.C. is that walking hurts too much. I guess I could get a wheelchair for the occasion. But count me in.

@jimhd All right there is two of us. Now let us two get two more and we will pick up momentum. So sorry to hear how they have reduced your dosage. I am afraid it is probably just the beginning because of Trump and the crocked politicians. I swear I smell a rat. Money changing hands. There goes my paranoia again. But none of it makes since to me. Why must so much of the population be left to suffer. I also can't walk very far either without having to sit down. Mostly from the back surgery and really mostly the multiple sclerosis. The MS causes me to loose my balance and I walk like a drunken sailor. And I stay exhausted which causes me to walk just a little then rest even more. With a march like I would like to see I would need a wheel chair too. I would not want no one to fake needing one but I would not want anyone to miss marching just because that don't think they could physically do it. All wheelchairs welcome. Please people lets do it and stand up for ourselves because God knows no one else is.@jimhd I am bipolar and suicidal ideation is always tucked away in my mind. I know suffering day after day in pain would not mix well with that symptom. I believe people who don't fight any mental illness would soon be entertaining one after suffering from severe and chronic pain. I believe a lot of people who have been thrown away by the government will tire and finally just give up. Another statistic Trump has probably not taken into account.

Probably more specifically, Jeff Sessions, even more than President Trump.

Jim, I am very sad at reading about your health problems. I am so sorry to hear that you are in so much pain all the time. I thought my problems were bad enough, but yours are much much worse. God be with you always.
Jim. I just read a great article on Prozac and would like to post the link to it in the Mental Health section. How can I do this?

We need a PAC! The problem with attempting to raise money on the side of those of us who need pain relief, is that most of us have been rendered at some point below our max earning potential. Our only source of funds I could imagine would be people with wealth and power who have loved ones who need opiates for pain relief. I believe a movement of this type would probably be interesting to the manufacturers of opiates, but they would have to be very careful about their names staying behind the scenes because the avg. person would think, "well of course they are in favor of access to opiates because they make tremendous margins on drugs that have been around for decades. Somebody pick up these ideas and advance them a bit further along the thinking phase.

Hello @happyat76 -- there are several places in the Mental Health Group you can post the link and maybe some information to say why you are suggesting the article on Prozac. Here are some choices:

Start a New Discussion in the Mental Health Group. Here is the link to get you to the Mental Health Group. Just click on the link here and then click the Start A Discussion button at the top:
