Hi @mpeters,

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to cope with recurrent UTIs! I'd like to add some basic information from Mayo Clinic, about urinary tract infections:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/urinary-tract-infection/basics/causes/con-20037892
We have these discussions on Connect that you may wish to view:
– Bladder surgery https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/bladder-surgery/
– UTI and Kidney function. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/uti-and-kidney-function/

I'd also like to invite @pizon @victoryohvictory @smartchick43 to share their insights, as they've all posted about recurrent UTIs on Connect. @mpeters, how are you managing your symptoms at present?

I am drinking cranberry juice and fluids. Enough to have the right color urine and no more. I am mostly at home so I go to the bathroom frequently. I have switched from taking a bath to taking showers. My last gfr was a little low for my age but it didn’t raise any red flags with my MayonClinic doctor. Any additional ideas will be gratefully received.

@mpeters, How long has it been since you were at your doctor? I do not have a Mayo PCP, although I did get my transplant there. I live too far away, but my local PCP always tells me to call his office when I have a concern. He knows that I do not take overuse that option, or call him about trivial or unnecessary things. He always has provided a response or told me to come in to see him.

I saw my pcp fairly regularly and my next appointment is in April. I saw his nurse practitioner for the uti I have right now.

Also, I drink a glass of Keifer every day. I have been doing this for two years.

@mpeters, That is good. Your nurse practitioner (NP) is fully capable to help you. I think that if you have any problems between now and your appointment in April, that you could contact your NP.
