I take metoprolol 50mg twice a day. Makes me very tired . Slows heart rate but not to 40, s.

I take .25 Extended release but my heart rate still upper 40’s,

I take 50 mg metoprolol (generic for Troprol) twice a day. Doesn't make me tired at all. Heart rate varies from high 40s to low 80s.

You are taking 50mg twice a day? That's a very high dose? No wonder your heart rate is in the 40s.. How come your doctor is giving you such a high dose. I would question him about it. Is he a cardiologist? Does he know that it makes your heart rate in the 40s? You should ask him about this.. I always speak up with the my doctors. They are only human beings. They are not God.
