Having a hard time finding the original poster to a podcast. Still available? Anyone interested in a Zoom meeting to discuss things? I believe free Zoom is limited to 40 minutes so it'll have to be short or we'll need to reconnect. Let me know if there are other interferon sufferers interested in a Zoom meeting. Happy holidays to all of you.

Just wanted to shout out to both you (sueleerock) and seekay. I do follow these threads, although I don't post much. I've given my story and that's pretty much all I have to offer. Seekay's post is interesting as stating that ME/CFS may get worse with people trying to do too much. While I've been retired on disability for over ten years due to HVC and the "treatment", I still have sleep problems and far too much fatigue. It seems the more I do, the more I'm exhausted and don't want to do anything. I readily admit I've been a smoker for 50 years, so I'm not sure where to lay the blame for all my ailments. I am supposed to be on O2 24/7. So, old age, HVC treatment, or some other crap. AAR, thanks for your posts.

Well, we do have something in common, 49 yrs for me, just quit after diagnosis of emphysema and resultant COPD. I do not take their medicine. I take NAC, 600 mg and CQ10 and there is also a tincture I take for my lungs. See a naturopath, their medicine will never harm you and you will feel better, no side effects.

I used to smoke cigarettes at my desk when I worked for Pacific Northwest Bell. I am just wondering when I am going to start to feel old. Was listening to the Moody Blues today and thinking about how fast life flies by, now that is depressing. I just try and be happy every day and make good use of my time.

Take Care.

Dang, girl. You're not feeling old yet? Now I'm feeling ancient. I love the old rock and roll. Ya, ya, I need to quite the cigs. Severe COPD and moderate to severe emphysema. I've cut down considerable, but it's that last push to fully quit that I'm having a hard time with. Has quitting smoking helped and, if so, any tried and true techniques you can pass on?

Always have in the back of your mind that you GOT TO DO IT. Really, our life is shortened if we don't quit, especially now with lung disease.

I used the patch. Don't waste your money on the cheap patches, they don't stick. And, if you have to, after putting on one patch and you still are craving that cig, put on another.

It took me an entire year of wearing the 21 mg patch. I did not go down in dose. I just stopped. I live a few houses away from a cig shop. There are times I still want a cig.

I had to put my Blue Heeler down a month ago and I found myself smoking a whole pack of cigs again, so I relapsed. Don't be hard on yourself if you do, just keep trying until you succeed. Let me know how it goes.

You really can do it. I smoked a pack of Benson and Hedges every day. Remember, that was when cigs were cheap and my mom would get me cigs for 4.00 a carton at the PX, now that makes me feel old. LOL

I forgot to answer your question about if I notice a difference from not smoking. The first thing is I no longer have to hear my sons say, you smell like a cigarette, that used to really get on my last nerve.

I can breathe slightly better. But there has been no massive coughing like everyone said would happen as my lungs repair themselves. I really don't think they can repair after all those years. It is good not to have that constant craving addiction. I didn't want to have coffee without a cig, talk on the phone without a cig, have a beer without a cig. pretty much everything, the cig controls you. It is so nice to be free of that.

I took an interest in this post. Live in a small town. 64 years old and never smoked. Up until 10 years ago I was a poster child for great health. It's been a downhill spiral since then. Diagnosed with lung disease (bronchiectasis), COPD, Sjogren's syndrome, Polymyalgia rheumatica in 2018; on step-down program for this. Recently severe pain on inside of my ankle at night & early morning that neurologist is saying linked to the Sjogren's. Mystery eyeball pain last week was scary. Almost went to ER. Most likely inflammation; have an eye doctor appointment scheduled and there aren't many around here so I have to wait. During a deadly pandemic at the happiest time of my life (retired 2 years ago) I am literally falling apart at the seams. And without ever leaving my house as I am sheltering in. Thank god I have decent insurance and a great hubby. I have to figure out what Medicare Plan to get on and will need help with this. And like someone else posted, no one seems to know what is wrong or which came first the chicken or the egg. I am very thankful for a great Rheumatologist!! If I didn't have her I'd have to jump off a bridge. What did all this swimming and eating healthy and not drinking a lot get me? Nothing. My friends who think Chardonnay & Merlot are on top of the food pyramid are feeling great. Hmm.

My son has had similar experience and now refuses to go to doc too. He hurts all the time and can’t get any relief . He now has developed breathing issues. It is so sad for him

@bulldogmama4 It sounds like your son is in pain and unable to get relief and now he has developed breathing issues. I'm wondering if your son has formal supports like a disability social worker?

He is on disability. He see pulmonologist and is looking for a good doctor here. We moved here not long ago and the doctor he saw when first here wouldn’t even give him muscle relaxers because she said he might sell them . Obviously he felt she was judging him without knowing him so as soon as he can find a new doctor that takes new patients I hope he will agree to go. Right now he is so frustrated that no one can give him answers he is discouraged. If issues aren’t visible they don’t exist. He has seen so many doctors over 15 years with no answers he is giving up.

@sueleerock There are a few ways that I am aware of. In order to try to best answer your question may I ask if this Is this a physical disability and something that someone is receiving disability benefits for?
