@jenblalock, I would give anything if my daughter would move to where I live. I shouldn't move her way due to the fact that I get sick often in Virginia, could be the climate, but I suspect higher organism count; mold etc. How old are your grandkids? Sounds like you are headed for bliss!

@windwalker I know what you mean. It's been 18 years since I lived near my daughter or son. They currently live in northern Illinois. I get sick every time I go up there but that could just be because of the airplane or sick kids in the winter. We have four grandkids. The two that are moving to Greenville are 7 and 4. The two that will stay in Illinois are 10 and 7. Do you have any grands?

@jenblalock, Ahhhh....7 and 4 are such adorable ages. I know that you will love having them around. No, I do not have any grandchildren I have only one beautiful daughter who has opted to not have any children. Unfortunately, she has bi-polar disorder and does not want to possibly pass that on to any off-spring. I have made my peace that I will never experience being a grandmother.

@windwalker I understand. To be honest, I'm more excited about being near my daughter than the grandkids. They are fun but I love being with my daughter. We have fun together. 🙂

@windwalker I'm in similar shoes. No, I don't have a child who has opted out of having children. I don't have any myself. Not really by choice, though. Just circumstances that made it next to impossible to have them until too late. But I do have two beautiful nieces who have most adorable children. One has a 3-year-old son and a brand new daughter and the other has a 2.5 year-old little boy. I love my nieces as if they are my own and I love my grand niece and nephews even more. So I feel like a proud grandmother watching them grow up. I wish I could live closer to any of them. But I don't. So Facebook pictures would have to suffice.

@windwalker In fact, her mother-in-law is going to move there also and she LOVES taking care of the grandkids. The whole thing. I enjoy doing things with them but I raised two kids already and have no desire to do any of that caretaking stuff again except for short stints.

@ling123 My sister-in-law has that situation. She has no children of her own but has a niece and nephew who she is very close to and her niece has children who are like her grandchildren.

@jenblalock, I hear ya, daughters rock! I go up to Va. and hang with mine every 6 weeks. I just love her to pieces.

@jenblalock, I feel the same way. Even if my daughter had children, I would not be the kind of grandmother that would keep them everyday as daycare. I know plenty of people who do, and love it. It just isn't for me. It could be my disease talking though, I cannot fathom having the energy to deal with little ones on a daily basis.

@ling123...I had an Aunt Helen who was single without kids...we bonded early on and was the joy of my childhood and adulthood. Am sure your Brice/nephew feel the same about you. Tdrell

@ling123, That is wonderful Ling. I am very close to all of mine as well.
