@barbarn Can you refresh my memory of what the back issues are? I would stay on the meds your taking and doing what you are doing . If you can get in a pool those aerobic exercises are easier on the joints After my back fracture this is the P.T. for my ,in the water. For your legs there are several things you can try taking magnesium, calcium and potassium is important for the body , pickle juice when a cramp starts or before you go to bed, drinking a cup of ginger-turmeric tea after supper, Topricin cream its called MyPainAway, these are only a few suggestions .

@ lioness - low back issues - stenosis, nerve impingement L3,4 and 5 - plus, hard fall that left bruised right thigh- hip to knee nearly 2 years ago, possibly that could have bruised/damaged the ilio-tibial band? After that fall, I also had shingles on that right thigh, so am not sure I'm not dealing with some post-herpetic neuralgia also.
We have an outdoor hot spring in which I have swum laps 40 years, but have not been there for over a year...you are correct - I should get back to swimming, or at least walking in that warm water. Used Topricin, but that seemed to almost make it worse. I do take magnesium, but not calcium or potassium supplements. And need to figure out a way to get some turmeric down!!! Thanks for your interest, and for all the good suggestions - and I think I'll have a ginger beer with vodka this evening! Wishing you were here to share!!
