@jkiemen I've asked for clarification. I think it means the actual culture did not grow anything but the initial smear showed something. However the culture was rejected because they said it was mostly sputum from the mouth (story of my NTM life so far). The doctor will tell me not to worry I bet. Doesn't mean I won't. 🙂

@jenblalock, Jen, have they tried having you nebulize that strong saline to bring up sputem from deep down in the lungs?

@windwalker Hi Terri. I use 7% saline and an aerobika. I think that maybe when I spit I produce too much saliva? But honestly, how does one spit without producing saliva??

@jenblalock, I believe the saline used at the doctor's office is stronger than 7%.

Thanks. I will ask them about that at my next appointment which isn't until April. Hopefully I'll stay healthy and it won't be an issue before that. I think I will send a sample to National Jewish also. They might have a more sophisticated lab.
