I returned to a Dr I had previously seen...loved her, and she really cared. Shortly after, her 40+ year old son committed suicide and she retired!! I am back with someone new who could give a rip!!! Am desperately ill...in the last 5 months I have lost between 45 and 50 pounds. Cannot get anyone to admit me somewhere for extensive testing. We live in a very rural area, so that makes it difficult. The small local hospital does x-rays, CT Scans, HIDA Scans, etc...but no extensive testing beyond that!! Lately, I have been losing about 1/2 pound a day. Was to be scheduled for a colonoscopy, but my insurance denied it because the hospital (where the Specialist who IS In Network does them) is not in network. I really feel I don't have much longer...but have no idea what to do!!! Am praying for the Lord to take me home...I'm that desperate. Months of nausea and abdominal pain when I try to eat. Anti-nausea meds just make it worse!! Drs just try one med after another with me!! Wanted o go to Cleveland Clinic but the Dr won't give a referral until after I have the colonoscopy! If you are reading this and are a praying person, please pray for me!!!

@sciograndma, My thoughts and prayers are included with this reply. Being in a rural area can pose a disadvantage to many patients who are seeking care, as you are well aware. Might I ask if your doctor has intervened and made contact with your insurance due to the fact that you 'need' this colonoscopy, and that there is a discrepancy between in network/out of network with your specialist and hospital? In my town, I have already been billed by the ER physician as being out of network while hospital is in network. Most of the time my insurance makes the adjustment, but on occasion, I have had to make the contacts myself.
Doctors are here to address our medical needs, and often not aware of the oddities of our insurances. There must be a person in the office who handles the insurance claims and billings. You and they might have to keep on making contacts and advocating for your health. Why don't you call your doctors office on Monday?
Or is there an in network provider/facility who is within a reasonable distance for you to get to?

thank you for your prayers!! The dr doing the colonoscopy has had his office resubmit the request. It just takes time...which I am not sure I have a lot of. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi @shannanpruett57 and welcome to Connect. You may have noticed I moved your post to this existing discussion on gallbladder surgery so that you can connect with others with similar experiences. Simply click VIEW & REPLY in order to read what others have said.

I'd like to introduce you to fellow Connect members @missdraggunn and @kozlo52 who have both had gallbladder surgery and may be able to offer you support.

Back to you @shannanpruett57 what has your doctor said about this back pain?

Many many many people I talked to said they've had shortness of breath and pain in the abdomen for a while after surgery. Like 4 weeks sometimes. I had back pain for about a week and the abdomen pain was off and on. Worse in the evenings. Better in the morning. It takes time.
I know my hospital gave me a tummy pillow and a breathing thing I sucked into for 15 seconds to help my lungs to prevent post op pneumonia.

Hello I just had my gallbladder surgery on Tuesday and I am having a hard time with nausea. How long will that last and is it common?

Welcome to Connect, @snoel. When my husband had gallbladder removed a couple of years ago, he had a difficult time with even clear liquids in early recovery days. I think that he was able to try small amounts of bland foods after 4-5 days. He mostly sipped tea and broth while he introduced toast, crackers and soup. In a couple weeks he was eating things like mashed potatoes and puddings with some soft chicken. He had no problem with gradually progressing to a more normal diet with no spicy or fried foods. Now after several years, he pretty much eats whatever he wants.
It's nearly 1 week since your surgery. How are you feeling today? Do any foods sound appealing to you? Do you have a scheduled follow-up with your surgeon or PCP?

Thanks for replying, I don’t feel to good. I started eating toast and I’ve lost 10 pounds in a week. I’m just disgusted. They also told me I have severely obstruction sleep apnea and they want to do surgery to take out my tonsils. I’m 50 years old and don’t think I will make it. This surgery has took a lot of me. What do I do?

Wow I read your story and I’m complaining please forgive me. I think you’re a strong woman. God Bless you.

Feel free to scroll through past posts to see what myself and others have experienced. I am doing better each week. Now almost 2 months past surgery. I still have occasional nausea and still working with my GI doctor to get a permanent solution. I developed IBSC after surgery which stemmed from my chronic constipation I've always had but my body was over producing bile and it couldn't pass. Also I have general anxiety and some of my nausea came from me feeling terrible for so long. I get spells of nausea usually stemming from acid. I have a hard time with full fat dairy and caffiene especially. Other than that I've been eating more and more each week, still loosing weight though (probably from not eating a lot a lot). The nausea was very high especially before and after surgery. Then I'd say 3 weeks after I seen it start decreasing dramatically. Now the past month it's been very light spells usually once or twice a day.
