I think it's maybe normal 🙁 I am 5 months post OP and still have daily heartburn, nausea and constant gas and bloating.I cannot eat without probiotics and gas X 🙁 They help somewhat. I am 65
Hi, I’m still suffering the same symptoms as you but have daily pain in my rib cage. I’m six months post op.Have you experienced any daily pain?
I had mine out on 1-15-19 ( my story is just a few above yours- I’m new here) I was “okay” for the first week but I had kept with the bland diet bc I was scared to eat regular food. One week post-op, I was nauseous, very fatigued, weak, etc and it’s been like that ever since. I’ve not been able to work and I rarely go out alone for fear of being sick in public and someone calling rescue. I’ve been to gastroenterologist and had endoscopy which located some irritation in my stomach and they gave me medicine to take for that. Other than that, it was negative for cancer and celiac. I had an abdominal CT scan to check for abnormalities and it was clear as well. Labs only showed slightly elevated liver enzymes. I’m now 6 weeks post op (tomorrow) and feel a tiny bit better due to nausea meds but am still fighting fatigue. I don’t have heart burn or acid reflux thankfully but probably bc they put me on Zantac 300mg at night. Said they hoped it would be a temporary med but we will see. Supposedly just taking it til my Stacy irritation healed. I still prefer bland foods as my old favorites taste bitter or burnt.
Really omg I don't want this as my new normal!
I hope not as well. This is very frustrating and disheartening. I’m glad I found this because at least now, I know none of us are alone.
I had my gallbladder out the 16th and I've been experiencing nausea especially in the evening, stomach cramping, and fatigue. I have no appetite and have just been tensed and stressed over the whole thing. I have a follow up Friday with my surgeon. I'm hoping I get better soon, I on around the clock reglan for the nausea which sometimes doesn't even help all the way in the evenings.
get off the reglan. it has a potential side effect of giving you tardive dysconesia , which is an uncontrolable movement of the tongue in/out of the mouth. go on zofran (generic = ondancetron) to relieve he nausea. I've know people who have been on reglan and ended up with the described condition....kozlo52
Oh geez. Also I heard reglan can upset your system too. I have some zofran so I'll switch to that exclusively.
reglan is in the class of a promotility drug. It's intent is to help move food thru the stomach, if a person's motility is down. But the side effect of tardive dysconesia is very bad. I was on this drug years ago for about 2 months but i did not experience tardive dysconesia.
i have taken zofran for my nausea which i still get 2.25 years after fundoplication. it works for me, butit does give a small headache for some......good luck and i wish you well.....kozlo52
