I never thought I'd be thankful for ...

It's Thanksgiving today.
People across the United States are sharing meals, walks and stories, and giving thanks. However, there are times life takes us by surprise. Things happen unexpectedly and it is only upon reflection or retrospection that we can give thanks.

How would you complete this sentence?

I never thought I'd be thankful for _____________________.

I never thought I'd be grateful for so many chronic illnesses, however, it has given me an opportunity to reach out to others in similar situations!

I never thought I'd be thankful for raking leaves.
This week's beautiful Kentucky weather, along with the health of both me and spouse and our ability to get up and out to do it are a blessing!

Colleen,
I didn't think I would be able to list the things I'm thankful for. I was scrolling through the groups and saw the "just wanted to talk". I really am most thankful for life. Just being able to be here. I have learned that my husband, my daughter & son-in-law, my friends (live & virtual), my dogs, finding an amazing doctor, health care workers that "get it"..... The list could go on and on. But I'm thankful to a depth that I wouldn't have thought possible a month ago. I hope you had a wonderful holiday!

@parus, I love reading what you and others share about things in life to be thankful for! In spite of our differences and regardless of our individual struggles we do encourage and inspire each other.
Thank you for all of your kindnesses that you share.

Teresa,
Even if there were no chronic illness, I have no doubt you would be reaching out in some way! I am so very thankful for the calming, supportive and caring words you send me. I can feel the empathy in your words and I know that I are sending prayers and thoughts when I'm struggling. For everything you do,
Thank you,
Vicky

Colleen,
Thank you. For taking time from your day to prompt us to be thankful for each day. Your responses are encouraging, the information always helpful, and it seems that you somehow know when I need to hear a virtual hug or guidance. Your post as we went to my first apointment had my husband and I both teary eyed. It was compassion and encouragement when we both were getting ready to take a very scarey step in the right direction.
Thank you, vicky
